Before I begin this little story let me first apologize for the quality of the photos. I play off of my laptop and it has no graphics card to speak of so I turn down the graphics in the game. But I do think this gives a testament to how this game does work on a low end laptop.

The Life Of A Dwarf Warrior - Xerkis

Xerkis started as all Dwarves do, as a young Dwarfling. As such, all he was interested in was sleeping, eating, and wondering the endless tunnels of his home. However, what he enjoyed the most was eating. In fact, he enjoyed eating so much that the other Dwarves knew that if they ever want to find Xerkis they didn’t have to look much farther than the end of the Great Banquet table. There Xerkis could be found over stuffing his young Dwarven mouth with more food then the Workers Dwarves could keep up with placing before him.

Eventually it was time though for young Xerkis to start his training and career as a Military Dwarf. He now no longer wondered the endless mazes of his homes, or spent long afternoon naps in an overstuffed bed. He began to forget what it was to even taste food. He so missed the spending time eating. No, now his day was spent in hard and endless training. Long days and nights punching Dummies. He hated those Dummies. The way they glared at him, the way they mocked him with their stupid grins. Xerkis took great pleasure when he would finally shatter one of them and the piece would go flying in all direction. But his victory was always short lived for the Crafter Dwarf was not far away to build yet another Training Dummy for Xerkis to pound on. Xerkis wanted to fight real enemies not ones the Crafter made. He wanted to go out and see the edged of his home, the new tunnels the Digger Dwarves where making. He want to go back to the times of doing nothing but eating all day. But right now, all he wanted was sleep.

Finally, the Prince said that Xerkis was ready. Finally he no longer needed to do anything with Training Dummies. Finally he no longer had to wait to see the new tunnels the Diggers where making. The day had come at last Xerkis was no longer just a Military Dwarf but Xerkis the Slayer!

Xerkis the Slayer saw many new tunnels as he went out to defend his homeland. He had many battles with many Green Skins. He was always victorious. He now thought less of sleep then he did when he was training. But he still thought of food often but really wanted to see the next call to arms. That is not to say he didn’t enjoy his time at the Great Banquet table, for now his appetite grow even more as did his hunger for combat.

It was then on that faithful day, when the Diggers tunneled in to a massive chamber room. There before them he stood. Twice as tall as any Dwarf; hideous, powerful, magical, cunning. . . . . A Blue Mage! Xerkis rushed in without hesitation along with several other of his Military comrades. They fought long. They fought hard. That fought with the force of all Dwarves. Xerkis’ friends began to fall as the Blue Mage took their lives one by one; and each one with a hideous laugh. Until it was only the Blue Mage and Xerkis left standing toe to toe. Locked in endless combat!

Xerkis the Slayer would avenge his friends. Xerkis the Slayer would protect his home. Xerkis the Slayer would win the day! . . . . . . . . but Xerkis the Slayer would die on his walk back to the Great Banquet table from starvation. It would seem that food no longer mattered in the end to Xerkis after all. It was the defense of his home and friends that mattered most to him.

May Xerkis the Slayer be forever remembered.

R.I.P. Xerkis! May your hunger for enemy blood and for food never be forgotten! You died like a real dwarf: On the way to the feast after a great battle! :D

Poor Xerkis, he was too brave for his own good. May the bards (or skalds for us scandinavians) sing songs (in combination with drinking huge amounts of mead) of his unfortunate demise!

Xerkis has been reborn with a vengeance!

Here he can be seen taking out his anger on the Mages with his new found use of explosives.
He lives on. In fact you might see him from time to time wonder the far reaching tunnels of you own settlement looking for a fight, or even doing what he loves best; eating at the Great Banquet Table.
