what does it do? I dont remember ever having that event. Maybe I had it once.

It's an event that can happen if a Roman army is defeated in a major battle.

The Roman standard of battle is captured by the enemy. This gives an immediate, large hit to stability, popularity and war exhaustion.

The enemy capital province is then set as the location of the eagle (the old UI actually had a unique icon in the top bar just to indicate the territory the eagle is in, not sure if that's still in the current UI), and gets a fairly strong buff for as long as the eagle is there.

Later on, if the Romans capture the territory with the eagle they can reclaim the eagle, giving a huge boost to stability and popularity.

Maybe, but I fear the Golden Eagle we lost today is IR's future maturing :(
That why I wrote and post this with a picture of the soldier regaining the Lost Eagle(My pictures has more deep information). Arminius Broke and tore down any Roman plan on Magna Germania.

For me there is better Generals them Alexander. He did Great and I respect but War is accomplishment of long standing plan, and that the Roman Generals achieved with success.

Is upon the company to decide where they game will go not me.

Gaius Julius Arminius and the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest

That should be a insanely DLC if one day they come back develop this game.

Meh, a battle whose consequences were vastly overblown (read: fabricated) by german romanticism and nationalism.
Germanic tribes do need a buff, rework and possibly a dlc, along with an extended timeline to make it worthy. I just hope they will not center it about Iulius Gaius Arminius.
Germanic and roman relations were complex and went on for centuries.

If you say that destroy a plan of Rome to conquer Germania is 'Vastly Overblow' or romanticized by Germans, we can choose another General I didn't say that should be this General specifically, but I was point the strategy behind it, a history of 3 Lost Legions in a Single Ambush and of course showing what happens in my game.

You can choose a better romanticized General like Leonidas of Sparta and their 300.

We all know that Germans were vastly decentralized with a territory full of forest and poorly developed. But this is part of their strategy against Rome, that after, fall into the hands of Barbarians.

15000 soldiers lost for the roman empire were not peanuts but surely not enough to stop them, of course you have no idea the punitive expeditions led by Emilianus ever existed. They were not going to conquer northern Germania with 3 meager legions.

I dont blame you, every people has foundation myths which their identity is built upon and when these myths are dismissed for what they are they feel a bit shaken. It happens to everyone.

We were not talking about the greeks tho.

Of course were not enough to stop them, that why I stated in my last words about the poorly developed German territory. Would cost more to conquer and develop that entire region.

And blame me about myths foundantion...? I didn't even created any thread about any General Specifically, just point something in the game that remember that time on history. And stated to see a barbarian general portrait on a future DLC.
