You can see, in the background, France - but it's shattered. Now, this might mean they were visualizing the lower political level, as you can do in CK2 already; but it could also mean we can get "de facto no central control", which would be true for France in this period, but also for the HRE at the end of the timeline or the Roman Empire as in 867 under Louis II.
 
Really curious about what the four squares at the bottom of the Mormaerdom of Ross castle menu is for. Buildings maybe? In which case, only four?
I am pretty sure that these are 4 military building slots and another panel to click on for civic buildings. I assume that there are more buildingslots available the more livable the area is. (Just like the Holding numbers in CKII)
It also seems that holdings in a province are gone and are represented on the map itsel now, which I would love.

PS:
It could also be that the Tower Icon just stands for a castletype holding with four buildingslots and another village barony in the county. That would suggest that we have no visual limitation (3x3 grid in a CKII county) on holdings anymore.
