The current system makes it so you are foolish to not pick erudite, it is already the best advanced trait. Psionic and synthetic ascensions already have multiple traits that give leader traits.

For example Fertile should give the Attractive trait should give governors say a bonus to unity and trade efficiency. Admirals and generals should give a upkeep reductions. Ruler should get + 1 leader selection

Robust should focus on endurance of leader like ruler gets council agenda speed -1 negative leader trait. Admirals give there fleets enhanced hull points, Governors experience gain increase.

As you really can only feasibly get 1 of these unless you go purity or maybe mutation. Even then I don't think it would be over powered to have more then 1, as your missing out on many of the other great traits.

Reactions:
Erudite yields several good perks. Firstly, each Leader gets +1 Leader Trait picks or the benefits of Meritocracy and Aptitude(stacking all three is insane in Leader builds). Next is -1 Negative Traits that stacks with Harmony, Talented and Aptitude. Also yields Leader upkeep reduction and a fat 30% Researcher efficiency. It also applies a nice -10% Pop Upkeep to Governors(5% Sector) while Admiral/General perks are sadly underwhelming(even Scientist perks are meh).

Personally would like to see Erudite added for free for Genetic Ascension and make it incompatible with other Ascension paths. That way you can focus on adding Robust, Fertile or other traits as you see fit.

Robust already adds +lifespan so the leader bonus could be something small.
