I know someone posted this somewhere, but I cannot find it.

I beleive some were saying they did not like this. Well, after huge amounts of time spent with the demo, I love it.

I love it because I have been secretly praying this would go multi-player since I discovered this game existed. With that said, if you were in multiplayer, this randomness would be HUGE.

So when you combine the randomness of the spell casting, with your opponents' potential hidden development of the OTHER worlds.., my god, if this is PBEM, you could play this for months with NEVER a dull moment and NEVER know how you are doing.

Thanks again to the Developers, this one is MONEY!!!

The tech tree in games always bothered me.

Knowing, in the stone age, what the path to nuclear physics will be is just silly.

At best a ruler should tell the scientists what he would like them to put emphasis on.
Do research on things useful for exploration, or economic development or warfare.
Then, make the best use of what you get.

A game that takes place on a narrow time space should have fairly random techs available and a game that spans the ages should be random within the specific time frame that you are in.

Then the game skill isn't memorizing the tech tree and the most efficient way through it, but, rather taking the challenge of making the best use of what you get.

I liked that about the game Alpha Centauri. You could set the game to random tech. You could also set it so that you choose the tech path.
