Hi,

I played as William the Conqueror, from the second bookmarked date. I decided to make some bishop in Normandy anti-pope. Later on I gave away the Duchy of Normandy to my grandson (who died, making my son duke of Normandy). When I pissed of the pope in Rome, I was excommunicated by him. He hates me, so won't lift it. I can't request my anti-pope to lift it (perhaps because he is not my direct vassal any more?), but if I try to make a new anti-pope (to have him lift my excommunication), the game tells me I already control an anti-pope. If I load up as my son, I can't request the anti-pope to lift my excommunication. Since I think the anti-pope should have protected me from excommunication in the first place, I suppose it is a bug.

I've had the same issue hit me. I wonder if the issue is that Anti-popes are sticking around longer than they're intended to? I noticed that even before I gave away the title that controlled the Anti-pope's bishopric I stopped getting the "controlled antipope" opinion bonus after a successor took over for the anti-pope.

Are anti-popes supposed to revert to regular bishops when the first one dies? That would make some sense (you'd want to press their claim on the papacy much quicker), but it might also be a bit frustrating if they get themselves killed off too quickly.
