Hi all,

First AAR ever, I started one game some weeks ago and I saved some screenshot and narratives and I thought would be better if post it in this community and then have some feedback and interaction with another AAR players.

I have to advise that English is not my native language (I´m Spaniard) so I ask sorry in advance.

I would try to keep role playing in the game, for example, if I make a war council to get a claim I´m gonna make the decision or by random generation or by in-game affinity with councilors/nations.

Prologue - The Antipatrid-Argead Dinasty

oJWXQPE.png

Cassander I Antipatrid of Macedonia, doubly legitimate King of Macedon by right of succession of my father Antipater the Regent of the Argead Empire and by marriage with Thessalonica Argead, daughter of the great Philip and half-sister of Alexander. The unfortunate death of the young Alexander´s heir, Alexander IV, due to illness, obliges me to raise my son as the future sucessor of the Argead dinasty by mother´s rights who will rule the remains of the Empire as King of Macedon and Hegemon of Greece to begin the reconstitution of the claimed Argead empire.

Philippos Antipatrid-Argead grows healthily in the court of Pella, in his blood converge two families of innumerable heroes, the dynasty of Philip and Alexander and the Dinasty of the great General Antipater, creating the Antipatrid-Argead dynasty, with rights over Greece, Macedonia, Thrace and the Persian and Indian kingdoms.

My duty as King of Macedonia and regent of the Argead Empire is to ensure the independence of Macedonia and to reconquer the domains in Hellas that by right correspond to the Hegemon and future Emperor my son Philippos

1st War of Macedonian Reunification of The Hellas (Aetolian War)

Gathered the court in Pella and after long deliberations the Kingdom of Macedonia decided to move south towards the Aetolian lands in order to begin the reunification of Macedonia

I called a War council and selected option by website with random generation, it ended in claims within Aetolia

The first war breaks out due to the dominion of the legitimate Macedonian states in the north of Greece, the Aetolian peoples will be reinstated in the Empire, to be protected from those false claimants that called themselves diadocs.

The Aetolian War ends with the liberation of the Aetolian peoples from the hands of the corrupt aristocratic oligarchies that ruled them, the Aetolian people form now part of the raising Argead Empire in the Hellas province administred by Prepelaid of Prepalaids until the full restoration of the title of Hegemon of the Hellas in Philippos.

Even being small campaign for the power of Macedon it proved useful as it opened access to Epirus and the Ionium sea.

456 AUC Lysimacheia
Philippos Antipatrid-Argead feels tired after the long road he has ridden from Pella in Macedon to Lysimachea in Thrace, he is only 16 years old, but after being crowned Hegemon of the Hellas and Heir of Macedonia and the Argead Empire his father entrusted him with an important mission that would be critical for the future of the dynasty, he couldn't stop thinking about the conversation that brought him here:

Cassander I :
- Son, you must leave to Lysimachia, there, our ally Lysimachos governs the Thracian lands of the Argead Empire, you must secure our alliance through marriage with your cousin and Lysimacho´s daughter Eurydike.
Philippos:
- But father..., is that necessary? There are too many good Macedonian women in our court.

Cassander I :
- That Antigone bastard controls too many lands to face him alone, reuniting the Thracian diplomatically will bring us closer to victory and weaken the rest of the Diadochi. You have to return with a renewed alliance and a wife. Hopefully, Eurydike is as pretty as your aunt, after all, she's an Antipatrid.

He kept thinking about his new life after getting married while he was approaching to the court, he would have to take this marriage seriously, as this guaranteed a crucial alliance, but he liked to take as many slaves and courtesans as time allowed when his father was not training him as a soldier and future ruler. These thoughts cleared when he saw Eurydike, she had the same lascivious look as him while she also was pretty beautiful, maybe it both was because of his Antipatrid blood. Maybe, he could take her as many times as he did with those slaves and breed a great progeny... maybe... He does want to get married.
Philippos has the Lustful and Wise traits

Kaigiza Moskosus, chief of a Getia tribe has requested an audience with our King Cassander I Antipatrid of Macedon.
In exchange for asylum and protection he offers us his claims about the Getian territories in Thrace, unfortunately, the Head of the Getian Clan in power maintains an alliance with our ally Lysimacho, will Lysimacho put Getian interests before the Macedonians? This could lead to a bloody war between allies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When this event appeared, the nations of Macedon and Thrace were recently allied by marriage, I decided to let chance decide what to do with this situation cause the traits Vengeful and Ambitious of Kassandros make plausible use this claims while the alliance make it not a good idea so with random generation I decide the option to take, which led me to accept the exiled and declare war on the Getian tribe, this will prove complicated as Thrace and Getia are more powerfull than Macedon alone

Tricky, that.

A bit of an annoying diplomatic conundrum. I suspect the answer will be something like war against Phrygia.

An unfortunate war
An Unfortunate war
Pella, Spring of 460 AUC

Philippos looks at the Stratos in formation, Macedonia has gathered more than 20,000 troops for this war, a complete phalanx of 16,384 Pezhetairos, 3000 Hetairoi and 2000 Thessalian cavalrymen that waits his orders to depart East

Even in front of such an army, Philippos feels ready, he has to be, years of training under the watchful eye of his father prepared him for what lies ahead.

It's time for war,
the war that has been waiting,
the opportunity to show that he is a noble descendant of Alexander and Antipater,
in the opposite phalanx he would find Lysimacho
who four years ago gave him the hand of who is now his wife and carries his first child.
No, it is not the enemy that he expected, but where would he find more honour that fighthing such an experienced Diadochi and General?

The glory of the victory will more than serve to prove that he is a worthy Strategos and the future Emperor of the Alexandrian empire.

Macedonian encampment Westside Evros river , Spring of 460 AUC

It's the night of a rainy Aprils day,
Philippos is meeting with some of his most reliable syntagmatairch at his tent, he has thought a lot about how to get past the Evros river, the Getian allies of Lysimacho oppose resistance on the other side, that's why he has chosen the officers of the four best syntagma, he needs those men to make an essential mission, that's why the orders are concrete and unquestionable:

- Philippos : "My officers, feel free to drink wine or water, as tomorrow will be a difficult day for your units, when the sun begins to fall you must intensify the hostilities and cross the river with your men and resist on the other side as much as possible, it is crucial that you resist until faint, only then can I carry out my strategy"

It was not necessary to be a renowned Strategos to understand that four Syntagmas could not take a bridgehead against the countless getas tribesmen that defends the other side of the river.

- Korragos (syntagmatairch): "My Strategos, I think I speak on behalf of my fellow officers, we fail to understand the role that our men will have in victory, but the Macedonians we command will fulfill the mission and resist until the phalanx is broken by exhaustion or death. May the divine Alexander son of Zeus-Ammon protect us."

- Philippos : "May the divine Alexander son of Zeus-Ammon protect us, and now, share wine and time with your troops as they will need all the bravery for tomorrow"
