OK I am the Storm King and I just declared war on The Rock, which had no allies it could call into battle. Strangely enough, The Reach joined the war anyway even though they were not allied. We are all of the 7 so it shoudlnt be a religion thing.

At one point earlier then this, I declared war on The Rock i believe which made The Reach not join the war, but did become hostile to me anyway, and looking at the rulers info it said he was hostile to lots of people which makes me think there is some lore mechanic that Im not aware of.

Can anyone shed light on this?

The longer I played the GoT mod i noticed that other rulers jumped into my wars a lot on the basis of "we agree with your just cause for war" or whatever the text is. I rarely, if ever, saw that happen in ck2+ or vanilla, and I'm not entirely sure on how the gameplay mechanic works, but I'd guess this is the reason for The Reach joining The Rock in war.

I still actually don't understand the non-war hostility I got from the Reach, and If I ever see anything like it happen again I will certainly post and investigate more.

It was a common event predating Aegon's conquest. As soon as one of the Westerosi Kings declared a war upon another, some third party would likely take the chance and attack undefended lands (or try to balance the power between the kingdoms, not letting one of their rivals gain too much power). For example I'd say Gyles III Gardener, King of the Reach

"Leading a glittering host of armored knights, Gyles went to war against the aged Storm King in the east, smashed the armies of the Stormlanders and conquered all the lands north of the Rainwood save for Storm's End, which he besieged for two years without result. Gyles might well have completed his conquest, but while he was away with his army in the east, the Reach was attacked by the King of the Rock; Lancel V Lannister, forcing Gyles to lift the siege of Storm's End and hurry home to deal with the westermen. House Osgrey were the Marshalls of the Northmarch, at the time and Ser Wilbert Osgrey called up the reserve levies and marched to stop King Lancel. During the battle between the two forces, Ser Wilbert met the King of the Rock and was able to slay him at the cost of his own life, stopping the attack in its tracks. The westerland army collapsed and the Reach was saved.

A new broader war followed, involving three Dornish kings and two from the Riverlands, and ended with Gyles III dead of a bloody flux and the borders between realms restored to more or less what they had been before hostilities began."
