If I were, let's say, King of France, and shipped a buttload of knights and peasants to fight some infidels, would the Templars help me with some elite cavalry, as they did in the third crusade (if i'm not mistaken, the third was with king richard etc?)

That would be nice.

As the great Orders like the Templars are going to be in the game, you will be able to ally with them, and possibly even gain control of them. So, yes, this scenario is quite possible..

Or even make your own order.

Holy Order of Natt och Dag sounds much better then Templars, right? :)

Not to mention Order of the Most Humble and Kind and Generous and Otherwise Likable Hjarg, Protector of the Holy Land and Father to all Oprhans.

As far as I understood, the Orders would be controllable, but not playable. That sounds like fun! :)

Making your own order would be great. :D

I'm afraid that the # of orders are set, as are the names (but I hope I'm wrong ;))

Still, your order names sound much better so I guess we'll have to edit the equivalent of countries.csv in our equivalent of IGC/EEP/AGC :p

[rather than father to all the orphans shouldn't that be father to all the bast..  :) ]

How about "Father to all Ophrans" - you will always have a great audience :D

Hmmm... wouldn't that be a bit difficult? After all, an orphan is someone who lost both their parents.
So i would be father to all orphans and very dead as well? :D

R.I.P.
Here lies Hjarg, father of all the orphans in our kingdom. Hard work of becoming a father of them all finally took him to his grave.
Rest in peace and hope that there are some condoms in heaven.

Guess it would depend on whether you controlled the Templars or not. It is kinda confusing how this would be coordinated if you did not control the order - but in HOI there is a way to lend troops to an ally or have the troops controlled by the ally so maybe they are implementing a similar system in CK.

There were several kings who, instead of going on crusade, sent some troops to the Holy Land and supported them for a specific period of time. Others gave $$$ in an amount meant to support a specific number of troops for a certain period of time. It was not uncommon for other wars as well for a monarch to send/lend troops to someone else to fight a war.:)
