Never before, has the world seen such a time, and never shall that time return.
It was the age of expansion, when blitzkrieg conquered ever increasing areas, to give the reich wealth.
It was the age of war, and chaos, when dictators created vast empires, and made soldiers long for death.
It was the age of research, when scientists took man closer too heaven, but the people lived in hell.
It was the age of fortification, when people built mighty defens lines, with blood and sweat.
It was the age of totalakrieg, when millions died for leaders who didn´t care about the price.
That age, has now returned...

All you Paradox fans have recogniced the poem, it is the intro to EU1, translated from my native tongue and slightly modified to fit WWII.

Oh cool, so you're going to do an AAR on Tibet then? This might be interesting.

There was a recent issue of "Military History" that covered the Tibetan resistance against China. Even though it may have been after World War II, it's still interesting. They were damn good fighters, and you have to tip your hats to what they tried to do.

The chilly wind blew up from the valley, the snow covered roofs and mountines of Lhasa made a fine contrast.
Reting Rimpasche, head of government, foreign minister, minister of security and minister of intelligence stood looking out over the capitol with its few souls.
The place imbodied the peace of lamaism, even the army reflected over that.
The tibetan army was comprised of three hundered monks, fighting with sticks and marshal arts.
This had to change.
An aide appeared at the door
- His holyness wants to see you.
- And what does the reveared Lama want of me?
- He didn´t tell me.
- Lead the way.
The two men left the room, a bird sang its song, peace ruled...

They walked through the dark, narrow passages of the palace, going deep underground.
As they reached the end of the tunnel, or passage, Reting wasn´t sure weather this was above or below ground.
The room was large, perhaps, 50x50 meters, chissled out of the bare rock, in the middle stood Dalai Lama, next to a huge table, the surface of the table was a map of the world.
The two words : “World section” hung over the table, so did an lamp.
In the darkness at the sides Reting could see the ”Africa section” and the “Europe section” Needless to say, these tables showed a map of europe and africa.
- What on earth is all this? Reting asked.
- Greetings, Reting Rimposche, here is the Tibetan Operations planning room.

Reting looked around, as his eyes got accustomed to the light, he could see soldiers running about, moving tiny figures on the table, other people were carrying food and tea around.

- B-b-b-but, was all Reting could get out
- I know, Dalai sighed, I know what you think: “This room shouldn´t be in the palace, what operations is Tibet even making?” I tell you: None. But there will be, oh yes there will be...
Dalai Lama then layed out his plan.
- The world is not at peace, far from it, the germans are hoarding stocks of weapons and so on, we must implement the peace of Llamaism to the rest of the world.
- How?
- History has showed, that through peace, nothing can be achieved, people talking about world peace to achieve peace is mad, peace can only be achieved through war.
- So you suggest, that we, the Buddhists that fear all living things shall go to war? This is insane.
- Call it what you want! Dalai said, the plan is as follows: War between china and Japan is unavoidable, and although great in numbers, the chinese are ill-equipped and wont stand a chance, when the chinese defense has crumbled, and they are on their last legs, we strike. Demoralised the chinese will pose little threat, we will gain industries, raw materials, and, if we´re sucessfull: a port.
- So, you are going to lead buddhists into war, just to get some factories that we havent the raw materials to run, some low quality raw materials and a port that we has no use for? You are mad!
- We will see, we will see...

There has been many Dali Lhamas, it is just a title (Not knowing what the 1936 dhalai lama edition :D s real name was, I am jusing the title instead)

It was in the beginning of March, Reting had, by order of the Lama spent most of his time in the war room, right now the room undergone its first test, as abbesynia was annexed into italy.
People ran around with papers making adjustments, the buzz of the telegraph, relaying messages about the allies responce filled the room.
In a forgotten corner stood the “Relations section” here, estiates about the relation between countries could be seen, the allies strongly objected, meaning that the relations were going down.

A few days later, the first tibetan “Wargame” was started.
A enemy, probably the chinese had invaded, the north of the country was occupied and enemy forces stood at the outskirts of Lhasa.
The game was as real as it could get, however, the results were less than pleasing, the leadership was O.K but the three divisions of fighting monks were wiped out.
Terrified, Dalai Lama ordered a regular infantry division to be constructed.

July 13, thirteen is always an unlucky number, Reting wondered why the lama had gathered them for an emergency meeting.
Around him stood high officers and Shakra and Heging None, the chiefs of Staff and of army.
He cursed the lama quietly because ha hand´t gotten to know a thing, he was head of govermant after all.
As the lama entered they bowed.
With a wink of his hand, Dalai called in a small man, about 35, dressed in a blue suit.
- Tell us what we know, Jacking.
- Here is what we know, Jacking said and pusched a button, dia-film projector let out a click, a picture showed up at the white screen.
- This, Jacking stated, is one Fransisco Franco, a spanish general. News has arrived that he has started a rebellion.
- So?
- Well, we have sent two of our top agents in there to find out what can be done.
- About what?
- You know, covert ops, we must make the most of this situation.
- Which is?
- To get the equipment, in this rebellions dissoray, we can sneak in and get some equipment out, they have been sent here:

This is a factory in the south of spain producing ammunitions and weapons, lets see if we can get anything out of it.
- O.K, the meeting is dismissed.

Two dark figures crouched slowly towards the wall of the factory, they had been told by their commanders that it would be lightly guarded.
Suddenly, a searchlight lit them up.
RATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA
They realized that the factory wasn´t lightly guarded, but it was too late, they learned about the guard situation the hard way...

December 1

The infantry division was finally ready, sporting brand new mausers.
Unfortunately, they fled emmidiately when they saw the state of the rest of the army.
A new division entered training but wasn´t to be completed for a long time.

The Dalai Lama was 13 yrs of age at this time would he really have been so decisive and sure in his attitude towards war etc etc...?

Is this the end of the Tibetan army?

Good AAR but quite strange with The Tibetans wanting war but indeed interesting, update soon.

I didn´t say that the tibetans wanted war, it´s just like that Dhalai lama has found the greatest paradox (haha) of them all: Get peace through war

Dare you to match P Ebbesen's it came from the Mountains by 1948. Anything less would be failure.
Excuse me, but what do you mean?

Hopefully, the next division will be stronger stuff.
(That part of the division fleeing is a thing that I put in because it looks like I, by mistake disbanded the unit right after it had been deployed)

As I said, Dalai lama is just a title, there was a fully grown dhalai lama when the present (And most famous) dhalai lama was a teenager

March 29

The soldiers in the tibetan operations planning room was running about like headless chickens, delivering papers picking up papers, the world-, asia- and relationssection was hard at work, analyzing.
- Well, reting, don´t you think that my plan is coming along nicely?
- I hate to say this, your holyness, but no.
- WHAT?
- The chinese has about 90 divisions at total, they will crush our little, but brave army of fighting monks.
- I believe that the chinese divisions will be totally annihalated once the japanese has pushed long enough.
- I don´t think so, besides it is only the communists that is at war.
- Yes, but I think that the nationalists will also DOWed.
- Anyhing you say, your holyness.

Of course the lama was correct, six days later the japanese attacked the nationalists, sparking the beginning of a long and bloody conflict in asia.
Dhalai lama now demanded briefings about japanese and chinese victories in asia, surprisingly, the first victory was chinese in hohnhot.

May 25

- We must seize the advantage. Dhalai lama said
- Meaning?
- Move all troops to litang on the chinese border, we will go to war.
Reting left, thinking that the lama had gone mad, suddenly he stopped and smiled, the invasion could be delayed, there was always some excuse...
In june, the world saw japanese victories in hohhot and shanghai, throughout june and august the front remained somewhat stabile, with a healthy mix of chinese and japanese victories.

October 1

The 1 Xin´ bing was now ready, it consisted of highly religious men, fanatics, some would say, the lama also devised a new strategy:
Under cover fire from the 1 Xin´ bing the monks would rush forward and engage the anemy in close combat, the infantry should then rush forward and help, the lama called it fire assisited melee warfare.
In october 12 a new meeting was called.
As usual, Jacking was there with his omni-present dia-projector.
Klick
A map of china showed up with a red ring around a small dot along the coast.
- This, is the chinese capitol Nanking.
Klick
The picture now showed japanese soldiers giving fire at civilians in some streets
- This is what just arrived from Nanking, japanese troops stormed and killed a huge quantity of civilians.
- And does this concern us? Reting asked
- No.
- Then why is this meeting called?
- To brief you on international events, if we had ruled asia, this would never have happened.
Reting yawned and left the room.

By december, it was clear that the japanese offensive couldn´t be stopped, the chinese did still control vast quantities of china, dhalai lama still favoured an emmidiate attack, but reting managed to restrain him, saying that inside the area of land controlled by the chinese there was about 80 divisions, all fully capable of cutting of the four-division tibetan army.
