We are playing the 36' scenario and its December 7th 1938 with a full fledged war going on.
Everything was going normal and we were making excellent progress in terms of game speed and 1941 seemed feasible. Nationalist Spain won civil war and Japan was deep inside China, everything seemed alright. Until Mid-38 when the Communist Chinese got Russia to join up the cause of revolution and attacked Japan. That is when things went south.
With the 2 largest armies fighting in the far-east Italy got aggressive, with the Allies agreement, Albania was annexed and with Bulgaria in the seperate alliance Yugoslavia was too overrun fairly quickly peace would come back to Europe; that would not come true, Turkey a faithful nieghbor of Yugo decided to declare war on Italy. Not wanting a longer war then needed Italy hesitently advanced taking Istanbul and surrounding provinces. With belligrence only 5 Italy thought no war of agression is possible, I was wrong.
The UK rallied the Allies to finish aggression before it geets out of hand. What was thought to be a quick police action came a full World War. Peace was achieved in Turkey and Bulgarian and Italian troops went to the French border, British forces landed in Southern Italy and took Africa. The one thing Italy was banking there strategy was on a premptive attack on Britain on favourable conditions. In fact the exact thing happened to me, I didn't even begin to prepare for war.
Japan seemed defeated with Korea overun and China threatened, 7 divisions were all that remained of the Italian army and the Allies path to Rome, it got even worse as the USA joined the war in 38. The only sucess was at sea where the Italian navy was able to sink 5 transports presumably filled with divisions, and much much more with the loss of only one ship. But Misfortune was everywhere for Italy and Japan. That would soon change.
Germany would eventually enter the war, faced with war against Poland, France, Czechs and now there underbelly, the possibility of winning did not seem possible to simple minds like myself. In 2 months time, Germany liberated most of Italy, took out France, annexed Czechs, and is about to annex Poland. Air superiority was gained in Italy and Gilbraltar was defeated but forces were shipped in just in time to stop further advancement.
Furthermore the war in the Far East was turning around, Russia again is facing a humiliating defeat against the Japanese, as 40 divisions of Russia's finest are surrounded near Vladivostock and with Germany now on the border, dark times are coming for Russia.
When will you guys want to continue? I'm free on all but Monday and I would rather not play on Saturday or Sunday.
Also we will be needing subs especially now for a human US.
