Preface: the game has a log with all messages that the player decides to log. It is limited on how many past messages you can read and by default it saves messages for all nations around the known world.

Observation: In game the elite upper-class parties have their said on their opinion and state of the nation in the Republic Senate. However, Tribes, Kingdoms and the plebs voice is not that well represented.

Suggestion:
  1. Improve the existing messages with art and flavor only for some important events and create a ledger log with all of them from the start of your nation to the current year.
  1. Incorporate dialogues with the opinion of the advisors (offices of Government) and the plebs.
The important events to embellish will be:
  • When the nation wins/loses an important war
  • When the nation achieves a mission objective or equivalent (completing a Province/Region)
  • When the nation changes government form (tribe -> Republic/Monarchy -> Empire) or forms a new nation (Albion, Greater Iberia)
The dialogues to incorporate will be:
  • Advisor opinion of war/population/infrastructure/military themes
This information shall not be the simple and basic: build X granaries in Y town, found a city in Province Z or increase your legions to W number. The game should apply Machine Learning techniques and analyse the player game-play to make predictions on what the player will do and surprise it with sound advice. For example:
  1. The player has not built heavy infantry even that he available iron for at least 1 year. The Marshal can open a dialogue with the player and say something like:
“Our cohorts could improve with heavy infantry, do not pay attention to the Steward and pay for the upgrade”. There is no decision from the player required, only information based on actual game-play from our advisor.
  1. Another example, could be a player that has went down on aggressive expansion in the last two years, the Chancellor could say something like:
“We are ready for another expansion war as we did before, our neighbors are less weary of our intentions now, strike when they are unprepared!”

The advice could be influenced by the Character ideals on the office. Moving their agenda to influence the player.
  • Plebs grievances
Plebs grievances will inform the player about the provinces with high unrest, near starvation, etc. It is not the event that forces the player to change the Governor. Like the messages, you can toggle them off but with nice art it could help the immersion of the player with its nation subjects.

Finally, the player that doesn’t want to be bothered with dialogues can switch them off on the message settings as it is now.
