Chapter 1 - Destabilization

Altough some would call superstition, January was a sign of the grim future that humanity would face. An usual month, it seemed. Miners in Galizia-Lodomieren discovered a large oil reserve. The almost 25 year-old Sicilian Republic was at war with the Mafia. However, the third day of the month was marked in history. Alexander Kerensky, President of Russia for more than 20 years, walked out of the Kremlin towards his car, surrounded by bodyguards. Suddenly, a man drew a pistol, and, while screaming "Смерть предателю" (Death to the traitor), fired three times in Kerensky. The president was dead, but of course, few cared about that. Kerensky's Duma coalition collapsed, and three factions were suddenly fighting for the presidential seat: The Mensheviks, the Constitucional Democrats, and the Royalists.

After a large discussion, the voting began, and the Menshevik Viktor Chernov was elected as President of Russia.

Rioting began on the streets, as members of the opposition parties contested the election result. Viktor, however, managed to keep power, and the situation stabilized temporarily.

Ungern Von Sternberg, a.k.a The Mad Baron, seeing the Russian crysis, turned his eyes southward, seeking raw materials to expand his country. It was only a matter of time before something happened. Something big.

Back to Russia, Viktor Chernov had to decide his Prime Minister. Choosing a Menshevik? No, without an ally, his government would fall. Compromise with Milyukov's Cadets? No, he would never repeat Kerensky's error. Altough it was not what Chernov wanted, however, desperate times require desperate measures. The Bolshevik Nikolai Bukharin assumed as PM.

Yet again, riots happened, but the strong coalition survived. It was time to rebuild the country.

January 15, 1936, marked the Commune of France. The Secretary of the Communist Party of France, Marceau Pivert, resigned. Altough he was under pressure, this was clearly unexpected. A Council assumed power until a new leader was named.

January 19 was the day Bulgarian PM Bogdan Filov was accused of corruption and several other scandals. With the support of the Tsar, he managed to maintain his power , but seven days later, Filov resigned. Now it was up to the king to decide who would succeed him.

Before that, however, something with much more importance happened. After years of exile, the King, confined in Canada, succumbed to a fever. The reign of George V ended.

In the same day, however, good news finally reappeared. Emperor Pu-Yi ,of the Qing Empire, announced several reformations in his domains. "It is time to industrialize our nation, create jobs for all men & women." , those were Pu-Yi words.

In January 30, The Ottoman Empire commemorated ten years of reign of Sultan Mehmed. And in Canada, Edward VIII was crowned the new king of the British & Canadians. His subjects wondered if he would madly focus on reconquering the mainland, like his father, or would he turn to Canada and his true subjects. Only time would tell...

Fine so far.

Good start.:)

Even though I find the Bolshie path to be quite boring. (So is the Czarist), the interesting paths are democracy, Syndicalist, Wrangel and non- Czarist Denikin.

Of course I don't even know if you play as Russia.

very nice:cool:
soviet russia coming soon?
