Summary
There is a bug with a Russian mission where seemingly instead of an allied country the script targets the player'sDescription
So, playing Russia I have encountered a problem with the "Beyond the Caspian Sea" mission. The alternative asks you to have an ally, within the Christian religion group, with its capital in the Caucasus and owning 20 provinces in Persia. Fulfilling the second requirements thanks to my Armenian ally, the mission appears as completed, however, there are red crosses in the tooltip, both to primary way of fulfilling it (owning the persian provinces yourself) as the alternative (having an ally that does). When the mission is clicked for reward, an event shows up (as intended) offering either some points or an option to have the ally vassalised. When I demanded vassalisation, nothing happened.Things to note are that the event is called "Future of Russian alliance", while files suggest that it should be named "Future of [the ally's country name] alliance". Also, in the event description it says "Russia must kneel before Russia". Russia can many thing, but I believe, for many reasons, it cannot kneel, even/especially before herself. Its like the unmovable object vs an unstoppable force dilemma. However, the second option, "Russia and Russia are equals", seems to be perfectly right.
Therefore, I believe that the problem lies in wrong country targeting.
Also, one forumite said that it may be connected with one of the requirements actually being "the ally with the same religion", not the "same religion group".
