East India Interview #2 on Pirates Ahoy! reacquaints us with East India Company by discussing the real-time strategy game with lead designer Kim Soares. Last summer we learned the game was delayed until Q1 2009, so it is officially delayed again as of 10 days ago, but the Q&A discusses this, saying, "Due to latest developments, release date for EIC is Q3 2009. I assure you that the game will be that much better as to make up for the extra wait." The conversation also reveals the game's system requirements:

Looking at the videos I can't believe that the game will run everything Max'd out, with P4 2Ghz and 2Gb DDR and a 512mb card.

Can anyone tell me if when you "jump" into the sailing, that it will be more like Age Of Pirates, what size of area you can sail in, is it a limit area and once a battles over you jump back into the "world map" to sail on.

Thanks

The system requirements seems average, although the 2GB RAM and 512MB graphics card in the recommended requirements seems a little surprising. Makes me wonder if the game would be one of those that has really good graphics, but needs high end gaming PC's to run, like Crysis. Or if the game would have detailed graphics that doesn't require a monster to run, like trackmania nations.

There's been more a few games suffering from understated system specs, so there's a chance that this is simply an attempt to give gamers more realistic bars to determine whether or not their system is up for the job. And really, these days, there are plenty of sub-$100 video cards packing that much memory.

Interesting how a 3-button mouse is needed.
