With the arrival of summer weather in the eastern USA, I have frequently experienced my computer (HP Pavilion laptop, Pentium III), overheating (only when I play EUII). I'm guessing the high processer demand is the culprit; any suggestions?

overheating

Thanks for the tips. I'll let you know what helps and doesn't help. I should have mentioned that when on battery power the overheating is less frequent. I believe that the power-saving features run the processor slower, ergo less heat. I think the fans are OK. When you say case, though I am a little confused, as what you said was to this computer newbie a little ambiguous. Is it that which surrounds the hardware, inherent to the laptop, or a seperate item that I have not yet chosen to purchase. (I use my gig bag as a travelling case.) Anyways, the weather is cooling, so...I might not have the proper testing environment.

PS: I've seen the number 37 quite a bit with peoples screen names here and elsewhere. Is there any significance to that number (like 42 to Douglas Adams fans), or just coincedence.

duh! my mistake sorry!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't realized you mentionned laptot in your first post!

Forget everything, I'm deleting it right now.

Ok laptops. Now I'll try not to be silly :D

first make sure that you can hear some kind of fan when your running it, if not, you're in trouble :D

with portable computer there's not much to do but regulate the surrounding area. Make sure you're not near a window with the sun rays "targetting" the computer.

make sure you have decent airflow around your computer and when you stop using it, put it somewhere where there's no sun (like under the table or in the basement).

You could emigrate to Quebec, we will reach a nice 21C today, if we are lucky and 14C this week-end :D (I should really be :( but I try not to be depressed :D ).

that's about it, make sure you are not near the sun and make sure air is flowing decently to insure it can be cooled. Might want to install a ventilator in the same room as your computer; if the outside temp is hot, your computer will be hot too.

Same probem

Hi ,

Sorry to say but i've got the same problem ( desktop, celeron 733, win xp ), only when playng EUII it starts to beep the processor alarm, tried to paly other games, use internet, open Access database and Visual studio togheter for hours nothing happens. Runnig EUII for 30 minutes ... beep... beep.. beep...

Should i've to open the case and use domestic fan to ventilate ??
