I had a craving for some more majesty so I recently bought Kingmaker, (unfortunately I missed the sale by 2 days) finished it yesterday, and here are my thoughts.

$15 is a bit steep for a DLC that is severely lacking in new content and gameplay. I have spent less on DLC that offers much more. Anyways, Kingmaker offers 8 new missions, a new enemy to fight, and the new kingdom unit the ice mage. For $7.50 you can't go wrong so I would recommend picking it up before the sale ends.

The missions basically play out the same as in the original. Your kingdom gets attacked by the usual creatures of Ardania except now there are hordes of goblins being thrown at you. I found the missions to be no more challenging than in the original game.

I had my fun but I was hoping for more. In my opinion I think everything in the InGame shop should have came with the DLC because there really isn't much new. Kingmaker is also a bit of a disappointment because I think the community has been vocal enough about what it would like to see in an expansion. Apparently there will be another DLC coming out and after playing Kingmaker I don't really have high hopes for it. If it's just another 8 missions then I will wait for a price drop.

So, what are your thoughts on Kingmaker?

You summed up my feelings. Not really worth the $15. If the game came with an easy to learn, easy to use map maker, we'd have gotten those 8 maps for free (minus the goblins). But it didn't, and so we are stuck with paying for the maps for now.

I'll wait a bit when the next expansion comes out to see if it is essentially just new maps again with a few new enemies, or if it is more. If it is like Kingmaker, I'll wait for a price drop this time around instead of buying right away at full price.
