Surely some of you have heard of the Three Kingdoms era of China through either regular history or Dynasty Warriors or the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. This game more than any of the others Paradox have released would lend itself to a mod for that time period, especially with the character system for rulers and generals. It would obviously be a LOT of work, with the map and portraits and nations and other things, but I'm just throwing that idea out there. I would love uniting China as Yuan Shao in a Paradox grand strategy game.

may as well just play rotk on pc

Those have not all been translated, though, and Rome is a completely different game. I'd love to help with that, but I think with two TC projects, I'm already a bit overloaded in terms of mod participation. I can contribute some flags though, I guess.

could be a nice little game like crown of the north or something like that. "Crown of the Far East"

I'm a huge ROTK fan, but I cannot see how EU: Rome could be modified to simulate Ancient China without essentially a re-build of it from the ground up. The character portraits alone would require a monumental amount of work to make them look Oriental.

This is a great idea, infact, I have made plenty ROTK maps for different games and for awhile now I have been waiting for someone to make an ROTK mod, of course, after seeing the Sengoku mod.

I have all of the info one would need for this, if needed, characters, families, and so on.

As for what ROTK is? Here is your answer;
Romance of the Three Kingdoms, its a SHORT period after the fall of the Han dynasty in China, leading to a large scale civil war of many factionswarring to unify the land. Major groups were the;
1. Wei Dynasty ruled by Ts'ao Ts'ao,and the inevitable unifier of the North and west of China, which was soon overthrown by the Jin Dynasty after Ts'ao Ts'ao's death, by his administative leader Sima Yi.
2. Shu(Han) Dynasty; Led by Liu Pei(Bei) in the South-Westernarea of China,this ruler moved literally ACROSS China, being harassed by nearly every person. Why? because Liu Pei was considered righteous in his endeavers and tons of peasants followed him in hopes of a brighter future.
3. Wu Dynasty; Led by the Sun family, Sun Jian to his oldest son Sun Ce, then finally to the youngest son Sun Quan. Although Wu could be seen as the longest living dynasty of the three, it would make an inevitable failure in attempts at unifications.

These are just three kingdoms, there were nearly 20 more in China, vying for control, and at the time, many tribes from Mongolia invaded, and other nations around.

I could definitely deal with the text-based coding for such a mod, but the map would be a real issue and probably a lot of work. I would really like to do this mod, even if it takes a while.

Well currently I have alot oftime on my hands, downtime in Iraqcoming up will help too. If someone wanted to showme how to do maps, I would have noproblem doing it.

Currently, there is noPC version for Americans, only for Japanese and Chinese. Your best bet is to purchase Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI(Eleven) for PS2 for 30 dollars. And get an emulator for the PC.

PS2 controls are clunky and annoying.

If you look at their online community for ROTK, lots of people loved that one more than any other. I liked it a lot, but it's sometimes more boring with just one guy, too.

Yeah, but there were more complaints than people who really loved it. The problem was that it did get boring, because the only way for it to really be "fun" is to choose an independant guy and move around and do your thing. There weren't enough goals, not enough things to work for. It was obviously half-thought through by Koei, but hopefully they'll make another one in the same vein but with a whole lot more thought and work being put into it.

Me.

I'd love to see this mod. My favorite was 9, where you didn't get to control the tactical side of the game(which was too easy to outsmart the AI). This engine would be close to that. The only thing is the war/peace system would not work for it.

Alright, well I'm going to get on to a slow start with the history files. For TheAlexander, one can assume that modding this map will be a lot like modding EUIII's if not exactly the same, so there's a guide to that here. I'd just like to get a start at setting some character files up, since that's pretty simple to do. Any help on any other necessary parts of the mod would of course be appreciated.

Actually, KOEI announced only yesterday that ROTK XI will be released on the PC here in America in June. :D
