Hail, fellow conquerors!
After my third attempt at the three mountains, I finally did it. The kingdom of Ryukyu morphed into Manchu and Quing on its path to eternal glory.
Many thanks to Florryworry (grand captain of EU4), Ludi (my favorite fellow JP expat), and all the other dedicated EU4 gurus, they are gods among grand strategy nerds.
Detailed timeline, records and lists follow below, the campaign was challenging and nail-biting to the very end. By no means was the end-game boring, those pesky revolutionary rebels spawned every single month in central Europe although I crushed the center of revolution, twice!
In 1.36, the development of the whole world can reach well over 40K. I was amazed how half of that was conquered within the last 50 years of the campaign. Anyone out there reaching 1750 and despairing at the sheer amount of clay still to be conquered, keep faith in your armies and go for it!
The first 50 years were grueling, i had to build up monarch points in order to "no CB" a small nation in the Philippines and in Manchuria. After that I raced for Confucianism and the Mandate of Heaven. This earned me the sweet "Unify China" CB as well as the Confucian version of the "deus vult" CB. The tag switch to Manchu and then Qing was to get the CCR of their national ideas.
I took Korea and Japan while slowly gaining territory in India.
The people yearned for a strong hand to guide the expanding empire and after 10 years for internal struggle, absolutism paved the way for a strong and united Quing to get down to business.
Next step was to cut off Russia from Siberia when it formed. Never ever let the bear loose in the Taiga! Conquering Russia also allowed me to contain the Ottomans. My economy was stretched and I had loans, the conquest of South East Asia and the move of my trade capital to Malacca slowly revived my economy and supplied the treasury for my growing army.
With fresh mercenaries, I subdued most of India, just in time for Imperialism. I could now ditch Confucianism and switch to Hindu for more sweet, sweet CCR reduction. The CCR from Quing ideas, the Mandate of Heaven, Hinduism and the Varanasi monument gave me 6 months coring time, overextension was not an issue anymore.
In the meantime, Spain and France grew quite strong in Europe. I allied them since they were miraculously not rivalling each other and played them against Portugal and England. They also aided me in conquering the Ottoman blob. But alliances are fickle and France bailed out quickly, calling their doom upon themselves. The combined might of Spain and Qing slowly ground away at their territories.
At the advent of industrialization if was time to move my capital to the new world. Spain had diligently colonized North and South America. It was time to take away their income by annexing their source of wealth and by moving the trade capital to Europe to cut off Asian trade flow. The only two remaining powers were France and Spain. I kept France alive to crush the revolution, but this did not work and central Europe turned into a revolutionary rebel fest. It was time to put an end to it, after annexing Spanish Africa and the motherland herself, France was put out of their misery and the campaign was won.
