Version: HOI2DD Arma 1.2
I initially planned to use acceptall and simply coup the Germans as the USSR, but I realized when I loaded as the Germans to clear their dissent that the DDR had literally only a handful of generals and shitty tech teams. So I used event 2015 instead to get the USSR to join the Axis. For roleplaying purposes Hitler in this timeline came up with a unique German brand of communism, a "National Socailsim" if you will.

The Red Fuhrer and the Red Czar have finally plunged Europe into
war. It was inevitable once Hitler took power in 1933. Stalin is a
cautious man, but with an ally the caliber of Germany on his side it
was only a matter of time until the two divided Eastern Europe
between them. The joint declaration of war by Britain, France and
Italy caught them a bit off guard, however war with the forces of
Capitalism was inevitable and now was as good a time as any.
Surely nothing could stand against the rising Red Tide. The world
would turn on a Moscow-Berlin Axis, the dialectic demanded it.
Associated Press - Washington D.C.; September 11th, 1939
The War Department has announced a massive expansion of the armed forces. Twenty four motorized divisions and four armored divisions are to be recruited and three army HQ & Staff divisions will be set up. The expansion of the Marine Corp, Naval Air Arm, Battleship and Destroyer forces along with the establishment of an Airborne corp will continue as planned. While the army expects to accomplish this round of expansion via volunteers given the economic climate, any further expansion will likely necessitate the draft, a proposition that congress is currently debating.
Reuters - Detroit; September 21st, 1939
Strong economic growth is projected in Boston, Buffalo, Pittsburgh,
Detriot, Flint, St. Louis, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, San
Diego, Los Angeles, and Portland through 1941. And the company
spearheading the growth is Ford, which is poised to revolutionize
the ship building industry.
New York Times - September 9th, 1939 Reds Make Slow Gains
The war in Europe is off to a slower start than anticipated. While
advancing at quicker pace then was common in the Great War,
many had expected Poland to completely imploded when assaulted
from all sides by her rapacious neighbors. Nothing of note as of yet
has happened in the west aside from the recent capture of Venice
by German forces.
London Times - October 5th, 1939 Warsaw Falls
The capital of Poland, battered by the inhumane shelling and
bombing of Red forces has fallen. Yet Poland fights on from it's
stronghold in the south and from occupied Slovakia. His Majesties
Government has condemned the violent sack of the city and
promised the Poles more support, but little seems forthcoming on
the ground as the front lines in the west remain static.
San Francisco Chronicle - November 1st, 1939 War in Poland Grinds On
German forces "liberated" Bratslavia from the forces of Poland yesterday, but
elsewhere on the Eastern front the lines have remained static in the weeks
since the Lomza pocket was cut off and crushed. The flashpoint of the war
seems already relegated to the status of a secondary front as the Red Axis
and the Allies race to build up their forces in the west as the air war rages
over head.
New York Times - December 10th The Beginning of the End
Soviet soldiers advanced to the eastern outskirts of the Polish
Provisional capital of Crackow yesterday, likely heralding the
collapse of the brave and inspired resistance that has riveted the
world. The western allies seem unlikely to relieve the pressure with
the French scrambling to support the Italians after the fall of Trento.
