I initially planned to use acceptall and simply coup the Germans as the USSR, but I realized when I loaded as the Germans to clear their dissent that the DDR had literally only a handful of generals and shitty tech teams. So I used event 2015 instead to get the USSR to join the Axis. For roleplaying purposes Hitler in this timeline came up with a unique German brand of communism, a "National Socailsim" if you will. ;)

August 30th, 1939
The Red Fuhrer and the Red Czar have finally plunged Europe into
war. It was inevitable once Hitler took power in 1933. Stalin is a
cautious man, but with an ally the caliber of Germany on his side it
was only a matter of time until the two divided Eastern Europe
between them. The joint declaration of war by Britain, France and
Italy caught them a bit off guard, however war with the forces of
Capitalism was inevitable and now was as good a time as any.
Surely nothing could stand against the rising Red Tide. The world
would turn on a Moscow-Berlin Axis, the dialectic demanded it.

Associated Press - Washington D.C.; September 11th, 1939
The War Department has announced a massive expansion of the armed forces. Twenty four motorized divisions and four armored divisions are to be recruited and three army HQ & Staff divisions will be set up. The expansion of the Marine Corp, Naval Air Arm, Battleship and Destroyer forces along with the establishment of an Airborne corp will continue as planned. While the army expects to accomplish this round of expansion via volunteers given the economic climate, any further expansion will likely necessitate the draft, a proposition that congress is currently debating.

Reuters - Detroit; September 21st, 1939
Strong economic growth is projected in Boston, Buffalo, Pittsburgh,
Detriot, Flint, St. Louis, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, San
Diego, Los Angeles, and Portland through 1941. And the company
spearheading the growth is Ford, which is poised to revolutionize
the ship building industry.

New York Times - September 9th, 1939 Reds Make Slow Gains
The war in Europe is off to a slower start than anticipated. While
advancing at quicker pace then was common in the Great War,
many had expected Poland to completely imploded when assaulted
from all sides by her rapacious neighbors. Nothing of note as of yet
has happened in the west aside from the recent capture of Venice
by German forces.

London Times - October 5th, 1939 Warsaw Falls
The capital of Poland, battered by the inhumane shelling and
bombing of Red forces has fallen. Yet Poland fights on from it's
stronghold in the south and from occupied Slovakia. His Majesties
Government has condemned the violent sack of the city and
promised the Poles more support, but little seems forthcoming on
the ground as the front lines in the west remain static.

San Francisco Chronicle - November 1st, 1939 War in Poland Grinds On
German forces "liberated" Bratslavia from the forces of Poland yesterday, but
elsewhere on the Eastern front the lines have remained static in the weeks
since the Lomza pocket was cut off and crushed. The flashpoint of the war
seems already relegated to the status of a secondary front as the Red Axis
and the Allies race to build up their forces in the west as the air war rages
over head.

New York Times - December 10th The Beginning of the End
Soviet soldiers advanced to the eastern outskirts of the Polish
Provisional capital of Crackow yesterday, likely heralding the
collapse of the brave and inspired resistance that has riveted the
world. The western allies seem unlikely to relieve the pressure with
the French scrambling to support the Italians after the fall of Trento.

You know....National Socialism was the ACTUAL ideology of Germany.

Except for that i like this AAR, Nice presentation of the war.

The ;) indicates that I know that and am joking.

I've played to the beginning of May 1940. I will post more once I manage to stop the end of the winter war from messing things up.

The Guild of Calamitous Intent has been less formidable than I expected. I think the Germany AI is confuzzeled by the ahistorical multiple fronts.

London Times, January 4th, 1940 Poland Falls

The Gallant Poles have finally laid down their arms. With the fall of Crackow on New
Years Eve, the surrender of Polish armed forces was inevitable. Only a victory by the
Western Allies can save them now, and that seems unlikely to happen until at least the coming of Spring as the front lines are currently as frozen as the weather.

New York Times, January 7th, 1940 Soviets invade Finland
Emboldened by the conquest of Poland, the Soviet Union has invaded the nation of
Finland after the refusal by that country's government to ceded it's border regions to
the USSR. Given the winter weather and the logistical difficulties in transferring mass
numbers of troops and supplies from Poland to Finland, it is considered unlikely that
this new Soviet offensive will show immediate success.

Time Magazine; February 2, 1940 Rearmament in a Time of Global War
When the Second World War broke out in September the United States began its largest peace time rearmament in history. The results of that effort are just becoming apparent, with the first new mobile Infantry divisions rating as ready for combat. Utilizing trucks for transport to the battlefield and self-propelled guns for support the Army hopes to solve the riddle of the trenches that seem to still bedevil the European continent. We can only pray such an effort never need to be made. The hope is that the new battleships and aircraft carriers being constructed will ward off any power contemplating embroiling America in the current conflict. They are among the most advanced warships ever designed, capable of sending any other enemy ship to the bottom.

Detroit Free Press; March 4th, 1940. Reds Launch Offensives in Italy and Finland!
German and Soviet sources drove the Franco-Italian defenders of Milan out of the city today, putting yet more of the industrial heartland under the crimson heel of Communist block. Simultaneous the Soviets seem to have at last broke through the center line of Finnish resistance. The prospects of that arctic land, which has until now resisted so brilliantly is quite dim.

New York Times; March 20th, 1940. Soviets Cross the Po
Soviet Armored forces managed to force a crossing of the Po river and appear on the brink of capturing the city of Ferrara. An allied counterattack has been launched but is likely not enough large to be wholly effective. The times sources within the Italian high command believe that the Soviet armored force will be forced to withdraw, but enough German infantry will cross in that time to make dislodging the bridgehead extremely unlikely.

Washington Post; April 12th, 1940 Axis Aggression
President Roosevelt vehemently denounced the German declaration of war against the neutral countries of Denmark and Norway earlier this day. Castigating the Axis as “Red only in tooth and claw”, the President pledged to make every effort to repeal the neutrality acts and supply Britain and France with arms. Opposition on the hill was muted, for while the general public remains isolationist in outlook, the GOP has always been hostile to the communist governments of the USSR and Germany and has seen the current conflict has the confirmation of their fears.

I don't think Germany and the SU together can possibly suffer from that problem.

You would be mistaken, I predict the war will rage on into 1944 when after Germany collapses, the Soviet AI really wakes up and sweeps the Allies into the sea. However we're getting ahead of ourselves, I've only played into early 1942 and I'll post some more updates tomorrow.

I plan on fighting Japan alone, because fascist Japan can't possibly be allied with the Red Axis and the Allies look like they're doing fine by themselves. I'll swoop in and save the day after the Soviets take over Europe.

Oh well, I was busy, but better late than never.

May 10th, 1941 Time Magazine Spring Thaws the Winter War
Soviet armored columns reached the Baltic Sea on the 8th, cutting the nation in half. The war there is virtually over. Elsewhere in Europe, Denmark was finally overrun on April the 23rd, after putting much stronger resistance then expected. That seems to be the norm however, the Red Axis attacks a smaller nation and is then stalled for longer then anyone could have thought possible. However despite their problem subduing the smaller states, the Red march on. In Italy Bologna has fallen.

London Times, June 2nd, 1940 Soviets Invade Estonia & Latvia!
With Finland reeling under the Red onslaught, the Soviet Union has begun shifting troops further south along the Baltic coast putting them in position for their Baltic invasion. Prime Minister Churchill pledged to give the embattled states all the help that Britain could spare, but that is likely to be little given German control of the Baltic.
