Hello !

Here is my problem: I've been playing a lot of CK2, but also EU4 and other Paradox games on my previous laptop which was an Acer one, and everything worked well. But my Acer died yesterday and I bought a new one, but didn't had a lot of choices as I was in urge to get a computer for working, so I bought an HP Pavilion supposed to be gaming thing, with intel core i5 and nvidia geforce gtx. But when I launch CK2 (but also EU4, haven't tried other games), game works but everything is way to small to be readable.

I tried changing resolution of my computer but it doesn't really change, appart reducing the screen even more. And I can't change resolution directly from CK2 menu, its stuck at 1920x1080, which is the basic resolution of my HP laptop. I also tried changing text size of the computer, work for everything appart from games. Even the launcher looks super small.

Does anyone has a genious idea to help me with that please ? I bought this computer 850 euros in order for it to run games correctly so that would be a shame if I can't play :(

Thanks in advance !

This is normal if you are not in fullScreen . Switch to fullScreen and you can change resolutions.

Also try changing the gui_scale setting in documents/paradox/ck2/settings.txt

I was in full screen but couldn't change it... it's very small from the launcher itself
Can you be a bit more precise with the thing I should try to change in documents ? I'm basically kind of ignorant with informatic stuff ^^' I can find the file but what should I change it for ?

We can't change the launcher size from settings.txt . You could try going into Properties, Compatibility for ck2game.exe and tick the "disable fullScreen optimizations" box there.

Okay so I managed to make it bigger finally, same on EU4, its just kind of pixellized/blurry now
Sounds like you changed the game resolution rather than the gui_scale. Supported resolutions on your hardware are listed at the end of the file documents/paradox/ck2/logs/system.log

Generally though you'd use the native resolution of your monitor for the game, and increase the gui_scale setting to make the text more visible.

That's what I did, I increased gui-scale, so I don't know, maybe it's normal that it gets pixelised ? It's a shame because the map looks even better than on my previous computer, but the interface is now blurry :( same for EU4, things like units numbers on the map are hardly readable. I've tried downloading other games like Cities Skylines and everything looks as usual

GUI scale is experimental for CK2 and EU4 as it was retro-fitted long after the games were first written. Try different values to see what works best.

There are also font mods that might help, such as the Better Readable Font mod for CK2.

CSL is written by a different developer on a different game engine, so there's really no comparison possible.

Alright, I will check the mods and try new values ! Thank you for your answers !

I think BRF is not compatible with 3.x currently.
Hmm...i see there is a "Revived.." version of BRF on the Workshop that allegedly works.

I could recommend this (also on Workshop now)
Morinns' CKII UI Font mod
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-ckii-ui-font-mod.712799/page-2#post-18225248,
as i keep it compatible.

There are also:
Most Readable Fonts, Font Overhaul, Interface Century Gothic (all on Workshop)

Hi ! So problem is solved for CK2, I managed to get very satisfying results, now it's only EU4 that is a big issue, either I get really small UI in normal settings that will probably kill my eyes trying to read it, or I get more readable stuff by getting UI bigger but then I can't declare war for example because the button is outside screen... It's a nightmare to fix

Please post a new thread in EU4 tech support forum with dxdiag.txt settings.txt and system.log from that game, thanks.
