Be as extensive as you want, please post your ideas for Totally and/or Fantasy Aberrated, if you haven´t already. The decision what I will do will be concluded next week.:)

I want to know that too. Is Fantasy actually about making completely new states, or just a VERY big diversion from history?

Fantasy will be states created with NO resemblance to history or even closeness. RoTW too.

Totally Aberrated will just be a bit more unrealistic than vanilla Aberration and will include RoTW.

what is rotw again? Anyway american nations becoming something more is not totally unrealistic, it just means certain events will have happened a lot before the EU2 timeline, also it would maybe mean europe might be in a different shape and perhaps still in medieval times.

RotW = Rest of the World, term afaik based on boardgame EU, which had two maps, Europe and RotW.

So RotW means everything beyond Europe-North Africa-Near East area.

Nah, Only if totally aberrated means changed around 1 AD, otherwise it's just the same states and statelets again, but in 1400 years a lot more cna change...

I would like to see a powerful American power for a change! No more weak Indians: I want to see the Aztecs colonizing Europe!
The same goes for Africa. A powerful nation in south Africa perhaps?
A really, really split up China that can give politics similar to Germany in vanilla GC (many small nations), with the threat of a powerful empire in the northeast of India, through Burma down to modern day Thailand that has its sight put on China and Indochina.
Indonesia, I see as a fractured land with several medium power states (á la France in the beginning of the GC), with a powerful kingdom situated where modern day west Malaysia is (the southern part of that peninsula) that gets the ability to via events gain cores on most of Indonesia and capture it...

This is just a rant, but... still, it would be sweet.

There have been a lot of great ideas posted in several other discussions, how about a quick summery.

- The Punic wars end up inconclusive where neither power ends up with a true victory, and so a cold war develops across the Mediterranean. With some true competition, both Rome and Cathage hold together, but now are slowly crumbling.

- Jewish state in Palestine (and Jewish religion)

- Islam never goes on its expansive conquering spree, instead stays in Arabia and Iraq

-China never unites in ancient times and no feeling of unity develops (otherwise China would end up together, sort of like trying to pull France apart after the 15th century)

- A united Polynesian state

- Organized American tribes that can hold up against just about any invasion.

Just a few ideas that I thought sounded like a lot of fun to try and set up. Totally Fantasy, while I admit would be also be very cool, is a MASSIVE undertaking.

Maybe a Persia that beats up Byzantium and then confines Islam to Arabian nomads?

Or Pagan Frisians beating back the Franks.

Maybe Pagan Vikings keeping great kingdoms in the north of Europe?

So many ideas ;)

I go with the Totally Aberrated Idea:
  • Perhaps the Mayans, the most technologically advanced of the NA nations, continue their rise instead of declining, moving into the moslem tech group, and colonizing central America, setting up a nation that can hold off the Europeans.
  • The Inca look to the pacific, and battle Japan for control of the islands. (also perhaps better tech group, or some bump event like what happened to Bavaria.)
  • The Iroquois Confederacy grows to include all major indian nations, and embraces westernization with a view to becoming a dominant power.
  • China broken up to many warring states (with high tax values) different choices for each, with chances of getting latin tech and dominating (but at a price.)
  • Japan looks outward, to the pacific rim.
  • Perhaps one of the Nigerian area nations embraces Christianity and colonizes south along the coast.

EDIT: These are additions to the present Abberation Scenario, just a continuation.

If America and Asia are going to be colonizing powers then Europe really ought to get the boot, or else there won't be anywhere to colonize.

Perhaps the Roman Empire died still-born and no real heirs ever arose to rule Europe. The vast bulk of the continent would remain tribal; and primitive, spear-weilding Celts and Goths would meet the American and Asian ships on the shores of the uncivilized Europe.

I mean, I'd really love to write an event where some clever Mayan explorer buys Ireland from the natives for some glass beads and parrot feathers. :D

You'd probably have settled states along the north African coast, southern Spain and parts of Thrace, but they'd be a push-over (Aztec style) to the mighty civilizations of the rest of the world.

Now that'd be REALLY abberant! ;)

Years of Rise and Salt (Kim Stanley Robinson) will surely have a few ideas very useable to a "Totally Aberrated/Fantasy Aberrated" - the united NA natives, Europe as a pushover/nonexistant.. rising indians etc..

Years of Rise and Salt scenario exists already!!

I know... as does the Grand Campaign..
that doesn't mean there are no ideas there that can be used..

Norway as a major world power would be nice for a change

Totally Abberated.

How about:
The Incas expand into the rest of South America, there could be the Amazons who control most of Brazil, the Mayans/Aztecs control Central America, the Iroquois control Eastern North America and the Najvaho control the Pacific coast of North America. Maybe we could have some of them in some kind of Alliance/Vassalization?
