I can't helping thinking a good understanding of traits is essential to winning, and that the way traits play out in Sengoku isn't obvious. For example, you might think a courtier who is Content would cancel out their other trait of Envious, but that isn't the case. Knowing what each does, and what to expect, will at least help new players, and certainly can't hurt those who have played the game for a while.

With that in mind, I offer up a thread to discuss traits, how they interact, and the kind of things to expect from someone with specific traits.

For starters, if your leader suddenly acquires the Arbitrary trait, consider long and hard whether you want to carry on, or go back to your latest saved game. Arbitrary will give a -10 to all relationships his court.

I get you... what I personally need is to understand how they interact with one another too.
And I think we could use more traits, especially about fertility that's so much needed (shouldn't be a trouble to do them).

Maimed is one of those that also affect relationships badly what about wounded?
With all the complexity of the game I seldom forget to check these traits in my personal screen of information but I agree they are extremely important and add a lot of spice to the game.

Honestly I just sort of plow forward. Pissy vassals don't cause me any trouble except in war situations I shouldn't be in anyway. Bide your time just a little and you don't have to enter any wars like that (aside from maybe your first few.)
