Trouble Installing

Hello. I've been a member of the boards for awhile, because I was reading some of the topics and deciding wether or not to buy the game. I went out and picked it up, but when I run the disk, I only get a box with the main image. Uninstall is highlighted, as well as Play and Exit, but Install is blacked out. So, I'm thinking maybe I still have the demo on my system, so I look around, but I don't. What is going on?

Any help would be appreciated.


Note: I haven't had problems with any other Paradox games.

Try to run the uninstall-option and see what happens.

When running the Uninstall option, I get an error saying that it cannot fiind a file. The file appears to be in my temporary folder, and then the dialogue closes, as well as the splash page with the options.

I'm unsure what to do, as I am baffled. You can imagine my frustration, as I do consider myself quite good with computers.

First of all try the tech support forum!

I'm guessing that you have a "ghost" in your computer. You've probably had the demo installed which you uninstalled improperly later (not using control panel - add/remove programs). What you need is a registry cleaner program (backup before using any RC program!). Try googling for it.

You could always reinstall windows, if cleaning the registry doesn't work...
Or, try to get a different copy from the vendor where you've purchased it.

Umm, reinstalling windows would be a drastic step.

I would first try the manual uninstall method outlined in the sticky thread of this support forum.

Sorry to respond so late. Been extremely busy.

Anyway, I'm still having problems installing, so I think I'll be doing the Windows Re-Install. Mines getting pretty cluttered with useless junk anyway, so it's about time. Easier to trash everything then to weed out the bad stuff.
