This issue has just popped up, and does not seem related to any newly added or updated mod.
(I have a lot of mods active)

I'm getting a stack overflow error when trying to activate the info view for trash and for 'high school' education (only for this, not the other education levels)
When looking at the info view i get a single error warning.
When i try to place a building of these categories, then the error warning goes 'bezerk' and keep on coming.

The output log has a lot of these lines

at CoverageManager.AddSegmentNodes (UInt16 segmentID, Service service, Boolean invertDirection, UInt16 nodeID, Single nodeDistance, Vector3 nodePos, Single fadeLength) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

This is only an issue in this savegame. The problem is not in other saves.

Can anyone give me a hint about what i should do to troubleshoot this error?

Please check your mods against this list:
Make sure to check the tab "Broken"

If you still get this problem after removing or replacing any bad ones, attach here the game's log file:
…\Steam\steamapps\common\CitiesSkylines\CitiesData\output_log.txt

AND the affected saved game file. Thanks.

I have enclosed the files.
There are some local assets not available on the steam workshop in the save though.

I dont see any mods from the broken list used in my save.

Ah, it's actually a Simulation Error:
Simulation error: The requested operation caused a stack overflow.
That's out of my area of expertise I'm afraid, but I see many other Simulation error reports here but none that end with "The requested operation caused a stack overflow'.

That aside, they all seem to relate to mod or asset issues. Perhaps @co_avanya or others here can give more specific help!

I'm afraid I don't have any insight into this. You can try using the Loading Screen Mod's Safe Mode options when loading the save that has the issue, though I'm not sure it will actually help in this case since the issue is triggered by specific buildings/info views.

If that doesn't help, I'm afraid you will need to hunt down the mod causing the issue. I would start by unsubscribing (not just disabling) mods that have functions related to or affecting the info views. Make sure to restart the game after removing them, and then try loading your save and triggering the issue. If that doesn't help, continue removing mods and restarting the game until the issue doesn't happen. When you can't trigger the issue, add the last batch of mods back one by one until you trigger it again and determine what mod is causing it.

The error might have been caused by a mod initially (who knows), but when i run the game with the parameters for nomods and noworkshop, the problem is still there.
In this savegame only.

Other savegames and starting a new game is no problem.

Removing mods do not remove the effect they have had on the savegame, and some mods alter the save so much that they cannot be safely removed again without causing issues. I still recommend you go through your mods in smaller batches as removing all at once is likely to trigger new issues rather than solve the issue you are having.

While it likely isn't entirely complete you can find a list of mods that cannot be removed from a save here:

Could you please tell me if your problem is solved and how? I also encountered the same problem, I really don't want to give up this save.

Hi,
I know this is quite old, but as I had the same problem with the University View for some time and after months of ignoring the issue I finally found a solution, I thought I share it, maybe it still helps.

This is what I did:
  • The mentioning of CoverageManager in the logs gave me the idea that it might be a problem with calculating the covered roads of the buildings.
  • First of all I deleted all my university building, so the error message disappeared.
  • Then I tried placing new universities at different spots of the map until the error reappeared. This helped me hunting down the area where the source of the error was.
  • For me it was the Boat Hotel from the Hotels DLC, apparently the quay attached to the road caused the issue.
  • I disconnected the Boat Hotel from the road network and the error didn't occur anymore.
  • I reloaded the game, deleted the boat hotel and the university view now works again without problems.
I'm playing with loads of mods and custom assets, so no idea whether this is an issue of the vanilla game or of some mod.

See post #3

I was able to load the city fine. I just unsubscribed all of my workshop and copied the saved game to appdata (C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Saves). Then I rebooted my computer and launch the game. I then "subcribe all" to get all of the workshop (almost 500 subscriptions).

I launch the game, go to load games and it loads up fine. I got one or two minor issues. The game uses more than 42GB of memory, so you may need to increase window's pagefile for more temporary memory to run the game.

Also, Bob the tree replacer said it wouldn't work. but it is a minor mod and not needed.
