hello fellow players.

i've recently had to reinstall deus vult, because my harddisk broke down, but i have trouble finding back the exact patch and maybe dvip versions i had installed. the version i try to install keep crashing, which the version i had didn't do.

first i tried to install the most recent versions of the dv patch (with the crusaders.exe date of 15 oct 2008) and dvip 13.12.2009, but i find that its impossible to add my own dynasty, ruler, and give him a title. whenever i edit a game and the dynasties db, it crashes the moment i try to load it, which doesn't happen with the older versions. also i think a lot of courtiers are missing, as the dynasty numbers are far fewer.

then i found back an old patch i had saved, from 22 nov 2007, and a dvip v8, this is almost the same game i had before, except that the counts and dukes pledge allegiance to kings of different cultures, even with the break free patch installed (they break free, but only to plegde to a different king (also of a different culture), and that seems to just loop around). this version also crashes way too much, especially when i attempt an assasination, or offer a marriage.

i think in my original game i installed a patch (and maybe a dvip) dated a few weeks or months after the version from 22 nov 2007, this game had the characteristics that usually the spanish kingdoms would eventually fall to the berber emirates, who stayed independent. (which you could then conquer). counts or dukes rarely ever asked to pledge allegiance, but it did happen occasionally, but then only for same culture kings i think. this version of the game had the extra courtiers (and the dynasties numbered up to the 20060's, which i think are missing in the later versions), it rarely ever crashed and was fun to play. does anyone know which version(s) of the patch and/or dvip this could be ?

thanks.

it could be my imagination, but i also think that children received slightly higher health/fertiltiy stats in the version i had, than in the 22 nov 2007 version, i've seen stats of 0 in this game, which i don't think i saw before. in any case infant mortality seemed to be lower in the version i had.

also children from same dynasty marriages from non-related courtiers/rulers did not receive inbred characteristic in the version i had.

i think i found the problem, i followed a dvip installation order from a thread somewhere on this forum, and i forgot to patch crusader kings to 1.05, before adding deus vult, dv patch, and dvip. i was running everything on top of 1.01

That shouldn't matter at all, since DV overwrites everything that is in patch 1.01 or 1.05
