I I might have posted something like this before, but I might as well post another thread just in case. Either way, the nation designer in its current state allows the creation of new nations in either existing bookmarks or custom scenarios. However I believe that it has much potential beyond simply putting your new nation on the map and giving it religion, culture and ideas. Here are some ideas I have for expanding the nation designer's capabilities;
-diplomatic relationships tab; a tab distinct from the custom nation tab on the map screen where the player can compare two nations side-by-side, and between them is a series of tabs such as war, alliance, subsidies, military access, and a subject/overlord tab. The subject/overlord tab would allow the player to create vassals, lesser PU partners, client states, colonial nations and protectorates for their nation. The player can then modify values for the subject state such as liberty desire and autonomy. For example, the player can create a group of nations, make the smaller nations vassals of a medium sized nation, and make the latter nation and its subjects go to war with the largest nation and its allies.
-modify province(s) tab; another tab distinct from the custom nation tab that allows the player to modify the development, culture, religion, and autonomy of one or more provinces. The player can also place cores and claim from other nations on their selection of provinces. The player can make changes to multiple provinces at once by ctrl+clicking the provinces they want to make changes to. For example, the player can select German provinces along the Rhine and change their culture to French and their religion to Islam while making them cores of the Aztecs. Or maybe the player wants to see Revolutionary France struggle with Mongol nationalism in Normandy.
-starting units tab; this tab actually lies within the custom nation menu, and it allows the player to place military units of different types for their nation, which will allow the player to, say, place armies along the border of an enemy nation. The player may also create generals of varying degrees of quality to lead each army.
-rebels tab; this tab is also within the custom nation menu, and it functions similarly to the starting units tab, only this will allow players to place starting rebel armies while specifying their type, such as nationalists, pretenders, revolutionaries, etc. the player may also create generals for rebel armies (who may even be the leader of pretender revolts that takes the throne upon victory).
-Holy Roman Empire tab; another distinct tab that allows the player to place or modify the Holy Roman Empire in their scenario. In this menu the player may assign some nations as the Emperor, as electors, as free cities and to add provinces as imperial territory.
-remove points limit; since these features would affect so much there isn't really any point to it.
-the ability to modify both custom nations and vanilla nations.
This is a lengthy read, but I really think that many of the ideas here have potential. But if anyone has other ideas, comments, questions and/or concerns please comment. Any and all input is welcome.
