Does anyine know how I might be able to turn of the sound alltogether. If I turn down the volume to 0% it still runs in the background as far as I know and drains valuble memory on my crappy laptop.

cheers

The music can be removed by entering the folder called 'music' in the CK directory. Find the file music.txt, open it and delete all the text, this is a list of the music CK plays, saving it as an empty text file will stop the music.

I would make a copy of the file first, so it can be restored easier if you decide later you want the music back.

I couldn't believe there was no "settings" program to turn the music off though. Pretty silly of Paradox IMHO. With the game taxing my older machine pretty heavily I was looking to turn off the music to save system resources (which it did in EU2).

Oh well we are used to renaming folders with Paradox games. :)

Thats certainly true... like the eternal solution to all installation problems, "renaming the avi folder to avi_back or avi_old", heh that's a classic...

thanks for the answers though... runs much better now

Glad it worked out for you.
