I usually play the normal EEP, not the fantasy. But I wanted to try a game with the Byzantines and so started a GC fantasy. I investigated the map and saw that Tyrol and Steirmark aren't even colonized yet!
Is this meant to be (I doubt it), or is this scenario not yet completely finished, or do I need some mod or anything? I got the latest version of both EU2 and EEP.
 
AFAIK Fantasy scenario is not used at all in the later version. To get Byzantine fantasy events you should turn "fantasy options" in the settings for normal EEP GC

You have EEP 1.4, get 1.4.1 where it is fixed.
 
I do have 1.41.
But I forgot about the fantasy option thing. Can't wait to be ready with work and go home to rebuild Justinianus' dreams!

By the way, any tips on defeating the OE best? I believe an alliance with Hungary is the best option you can get in the beginning?

No, the best option is an alliance with Hungary played by another human. :) I and my friend had a fun game last winter playing multiplayer, I was Hungary and he was Byzantium. Sadly we was not able to play it to the end, because of the Kerch bug in that version.
But it was even then a tough game, OE and Venice was strong and didn't stay down for long after their asses got kicked.
The main problems of Byzantium is money and OE's strong armies. Try to get Hellas before the OE, it will at least help you and hinder them.
