When at war or being a marshal, characters put on only the lower half of a mail coif. This would be fine if it were a plate bevor, but it is made of flexible mail, that cannot possible stand up rigid like it does. Turn it into a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bevor or make it a full coif and remove the hair. Even completely removing it would be better than having just the lower half.
