Playing the latest game as Germany, I went after sub warfare with avengance, and was quite successful as well, sinking all but a mere 72 transports of the UK merchant marine. However, their industry failed to suffer at all and finally not being able to stand it anymore I loaded them, played through a month (with 50 transports and dropping) and this is what I found:
1) The only resource the UK had a negative income on was energy. The home island produces enough of everything else to maintain an industry of 136 IC just fine. Incomes of Iron varried from +55 to +135, oil about +9 to +12 and rare +28 to +44 (most likely varrying from the few TPs I still had)
2) By Aug 1941 The UK has 315532 in stockpiled energy. The loss is -300 per day. At this rate, the UK will suffer from my impervious blockade in a mere 1051 days (or another 2.9 years)

Has anyone else tried this? If this is what normally happens then I think there might need to be some resource balancing. Otherwise I'ts worthless to blockade the UK

have you checked for trading agreements? Those cvan not be sunk per se, but the more raiders you put out, the less effective it will be. Convoys only transport goods from oversea territory.

Archangel85, a good thought. I just checked it and and my UK revised resource production stands at (if NO convoys get through and NO trade at all)
Energy +357 (stockpile 315532)
Metal -4 (stockpile 281603)
rare -28 (stockpile 160332)
oil -5 (stockpile 114612)
(Daily change based on only 'home produced', 'converted' and 'usage'. All sources of trade or convoys were not included)
Given this new information, the UK will run out of rare materials first - in 7,634 days. So, in 20.9 years if no convoy reaches Britain - i will have them on their knees

(I belive this represents an accurate picture of the UK resource situation - however Archangel85 already pointed out a large oversight on my part. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to consider in this analysis. However, should it stand perhaps CORE could look at the world's resource production?)

Anyone?

Ill have a look at it as soon as 0.11 is out the door.

Have you checked the status of their commonwealth allies. They might be starving for the resources that UK has plenty of and the solution could be to create some starting trades that the UK ai cannot cancel.

If a UK player decides to do so it will be his loss since his allies will most likely loose out. But in any case I'll definitely have a look at it and its now noted in our bug/issue system. Thanx for reporting it.
