Unable to break alliance with tributary of other nation

Have seen this multiple times.
Set up an alliance, and if your ally ends up paying tribute to someone else (they were also allies at the time, though not sure this is a prerequisite), the "Break Alliance" (or whatever) button is greyed out. Permanently.
Neither of us are at war so I should be able to break it.

Only way to get out of this was to declare war on the one receiving tribute, at which point I ofcourse ended up at war with both of them.


Example:
1. Sparta allies with Aechean League.
2. Aechean League pays tribute to and allies with Macedonia.
3. Sparta is now unable to cancel alliance with Aechean League (unless declaring war on Macedonia).

similar problem

as rome i created a barbarian client state in bononia, so we are allies and they pay tribute to me. when they expand and i decide it´s time to conquer them i cancel their tribute and the next i know the cancel alliance button is unavailable for the rest of the game!!! why? because they pay tribute to massilia so the only way to get rid of this alliance is going to war against somebody else, call to arms and pray that they refuse to help you...

When a country starts paying tribute, the whole alliance system except to the overlord is disabled. The intention was to stop them allying with foreign powers, but the bug is this they also can`t break these alliances.
