Unable to Change Artifact Set

Every time the "defeated" screen shows when you die, there is a bar that says "Artifact Set: Normal", but it is impossible to click on or change in any way. How do you change the artifact set? I've looked in the main menu options, but there are no game play difficulty settings of any kind.

Hi,
you select the artifacts after you select the challenge in the main menu. Click "Challenges". Select the challenge you want. And now you can select either a preset of artifacts (normal,hard, bananas) or custom artifacts.
