Unable to get paradox launcher working to start V3 (Fresh W11 install)

Current Issue
I've just freshly reinstalled windows 11 and I'm having trouble getting the paradox launcher app to work so that I can play Victoria 3.

I've attempted multiple reinstalls of the app and followed the guide laidout here in the Paradox launcher doesnt work support page (I couldn't post direct links as that appears to trigger spam filter).

When I try to launch Victoria 3, steam gets stuck on "STOP", and I can see two instances of "Paradox Launcher" in task manager (using about 17mb and 33mb respectively) but not window pops up nor icon in my system tray to actually interact with the paradox launcher.

I have attempted to install the launcher via steam and via the direct download from the paradox website, identical issue in both cases.

I have confirmed a separate non paradox game fully works to confirm I'm not having any obvious driver issues with the new install.

Previous Issue (for context)
Before getting to this issue, I was the exact same issue as ticket 1561353. (I'm assuming your ticket system is the number in the URL as again I couldn't directly link).

I managed to resolve this by force deleting the installer folder as suggested and now the installer completes but I get the aforementioned issue.


Attached Logs
Attached are the logs found in %LocalAppData%\Paradox Interactive\launcher-v2
I do not have a folder in %AppData%\Paradox Interactive\launcher-v2 but the closest equivalent I could find in C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\paradox-launcher-v2 did not contain any logs.

Please let me know if there is anything I further provide to help you debug what the issue with the launcher/ game might be.

I agree there is definitely an issue here.
I have just built a new PC with a fresh Windows 11 (Home) and Steam install. Vic3 is my first Paradox download (on this new machine) and when attempting to launch , the launcher window opens and it just hangs with the spinning circle around the Paradox icon in a grey window

Can you run the game from Victoria3.exe directly from File Explorer?

Those launcher logs show no problem. But was there a cpatch.log there as well?

Hi AndrewT,

When running that way, I got "vcruntime140_1.dll is missing", tracked that down to missing Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 (x64) and now everything is working flawlessly (both launcher and game).

It looks like the steam launcher didn't go through the process of actually installing the needed redistributables.
