okay, i've gone passed angry and am now sailing through the seas of madness. i downloaded the UK patch, got the no CD error, and deduced that UK does not apply to North American versions of the game.
I uninstalled the game using the autorun menu and chose an automatic uninstallation. then i selected to install the game off the autorun menu, and to my horror recieved a message about an I/O error, possibly due to corrupt data or a corrupt installation program. after clicking Retry more times than i could ever hope to count, i recieved a fatal error in the setup.exe file.
I've gone through and made sure the only things running are Explorer and Systray, and the problem persists. the CD shows no scratches, dust, or any signs of imperfections. yet the problem persists. i SERRIOUSLY want to get back to trying to annex Japan, but now i cant even install the game!
Can anyone suggest a fix for this problem, or will i just have to go through EU withdrawls tonight until i can get to the mall to exchange it for a new copy tomorrow?
