I am getting 5+ minutes of turn lag after 100-turns or so, and I think I've isolated the problem. Basically, the problem is the lack of a real "fog of war" in this game. In other words, it appears that you can see all non-faction units WITHOUT LoS ("line-of-sight") if those units are in hexes that you or your allies have already explored. This means that you are forced to watch literally 100+ units move during the turn generation, and this is stupid beyond belief. It adds nothing to the game, is unrealistic, and adds a mammoth lag during turn generation.

What was the rationale behind this stupid feature, and what can we do about it? This is not a hardware problem; it's a pure design problem. Is it possible to mod a genuine fog of war system?

I have no turn lag in any of my multiplayer games past turn 100. So it is not game design. I do have the option checked that says I do not want to watch other players move. My guess is that you or some of your game mates are using some bad options, or that you have discovered a bug related to an option.

I am talking about single player.
