If a country (most known exampe is Burgundy) must cease to exist at some point in game (as it was in history), there is no new monarchs for this country in game (as it is no monarchs left in savegame), and last monarch stays after his death as a ruler forever (smelling really bad :). Also happens if there is a hole for some time between monarchs rule times.

Wish: if there is no monarch for the country at the moment, get random monarch, as if country arise before it's first monarch.

Workaround: If your last monarch dies, save, edit savegame to remove historicalmonarch = { } section, and you will have random monarchs.

It was hard to live for eternity with Anne of Burgundy with 2-2-2 stats, mostly addressed as "that b..tch" (now fixed, another thanx to GoTaRnR). Still many countries (Helvetia as eternal Emperor also widely known) need a way to change monarchs past their deathdate.

Way to fix: Upon death of monarch - remove this section from country. New monarch add it on his startdate.

P.S.: (Credits) Workaround first described to me by Denis II from russian forum.

You are welcome to submit some fantasy monarchs for the later period, as has been done for a number of nations.

Maybe there is a chance to put "workaround" in game, so - if no monarch at the moment, remove the corpse from throne and invite random monarch, as if nation arizes too soon to have it's monarchs.

Why use fantasy? Why not use the rulers of the Spanish Netherlands or something?

Well, I meant fantasy in a broader sense; ones that didn't rule BUR but might have, for instance.

There is a problem in doing this: just because there isn't a new monarch available now doesn't mean there won't be one in a couple of months time. I believe there are often short gaps between the deathdates of the various monarchs. You probably need a year's leeway or similar to get around this.

Fantasy is a good solution, but there is too much countries with no monarchs for some time, so fantasy monarchs is only good as addition (to patch holes in monarchs for 1,2,10 countries). And removing dead monarchs to get random ones is complete solution, it's not prohibit adding fantasy monarchs, if any monarch (fantasy or not) exists - good, if not - random monarch appears.
But it will require to look upon monarchs lists to fix monarchs start and death dates, as this bug was used as feature

Everlasting monarchs

I ask here an opinion about CTDs of my saves:
I simply added a new monarch to mantain the last monarch
till the end of the game with his stats
(Provence, Brittany, Aztecs, Aragon, Burgundy).
Must I modify in the same way my monarch.TAG files in db folder?
Is it enough deleting "monarchtable" line in the save?
Thx the same.
