Undoing Mods Save file Reset

Ok I understand that when you install a mod all of your old save files become defunct. I recently installed a mod but because the patch removing the mod my current save is useless, is there any way I can access my save from before I installed the mod?

You have to install the mod in the mod folder under the paradox interactive -> crusader kings II folder not over the game installation. This way you can play both the basic game and the mod easilly. It also will save the mod saves in another folder and will not mess with your vanilla saves.

Shouldn't they be in the save file folder with those saves you made with the mod if you installed over the game. The mod should not delete anything from the save file folder so your old saves should be still there. Autosaves did got overwriten most likely but any manual save should still be in the save folder. The saves are in your my documents -> paradox interactive -> crusader kings ii -> save games

The saves are there but the entire map is deserted, no nations. They appear for a second and then vanish intantly, is thre any way to fix it?
