Very little is as disappointing as conquering a holding with a unique building and just having it sit there, disabled, for the entire rest of the game because you're the wrong religion. While there are a handful of events that allow you to convert specific buildings for use by other religions, I think it should be a more general mechanic as it was far more common historically to repurpose such structures than to just let them sit there, unused. Alternatively, choosing to let them remain in use as sites for their original religion should give popular opinion bonuses/bonuses with minority vassals or the like.

It's pretty easy to mod in, by the way, should anyone feel the urge to take on this initiative...

On the one hand, I want them to still be used, on the other, players constantly complain about stack buffing, and so we miss out on some stack buffs this way
I suppose it can be balanced by giving CBs and opinion penalties with "original" owners of the building.

That does raise the issue of who is the original owner ofc (e.g. does it make sense to have Hagia Sophia owned originally by Latins & Hellenic religion which would add some flavour to the Roman playthroughs, or do we privilege the situation between Seljuqs and Byzantines for the sake of real history that followed the game's starting history, hence the quotes around original).

There's also the issue of, are the conversions gonna be purely mechanical, or will the devs have to make versions of each of these buildings for each religion.

I mean we have millenarian prophecies about capturing constantinople for muslims, so it makes sense for them to get buffs for it, whereas capturing al azhar for christians wouldnt be that important compared to actually gaining egypt back
