While it is funny, there could be historical lines that can be used. USA did not like colonialism that much, one of the reason decolonialism progressed after war. They could help world from other directions they see plausible direction to help democracy and other previous colonial nations that are uniting for democracy.

Well you are democtraic so maybe that triggered the AI to go unhistorical.
