What is Universalis?
Universalis is a mod for Darkest Hour which let you play any European country from the start date 1399

Why 1399?
Becuase it is a awesome year

What can we expect?
The mod is still under construction but i got 3 ideas(for now) how it might work.
1: The mod is going to follow the EU 3 Divnie Wind story (using events, decisions to folow up the years in EU3)
2: User created story(alter history, fantasy etc etc)
3: Free play (not as much story)
4: mix of 3 ideas

HRE system and Papacy?
The HRE is probably gonna be one faction and Papacy is going to be controled with decisions and events

New World, Horde system?
North, Middle and South Amercia is gonna be one massiv nation which gonna be paralyzed.
The Hordes gonna be another faction, and they are gonna get a lot of manpower but they are gonna be paralyzed too.

more info TBA

That will be one LARGE amount of work. Surely not impossible but covering several hundred years will probably require some sort of abstraction. I'd suggest splitting the work itself into phases and using smaller battlescenarios as testing ground and preparation for a final release of your planned Grand Campaign. Means more work on OOBs and such but on the other hand you can get early feedback on the techtrees and events.

Sure, making battlescenarions would really help me to see how AI react.
I hope that the community is gonna(i mean going to if someone don't understand it) help me about the events, decisions and ofc more/new ideas to implement to the mod

You have a lot of work ahead of you. Do you also plan to change all the sprites? Anyway, good luck
yes, i am gonna change them too
thank you

So far, i did add new countrys and position them
I have done Spain, Italy and 95% of Balkans (need to add Ragusa, and one country in Greece), TO, Lithuania, 95% of Poland [This is just pure positing the countrys]

This could be awesome. But its a massive project.

Can I suggest that you try making a battle scenario first to try out the game (perhaps one of the many wars in Italy in this period?).

You'll also need new sprites, a whole new tech tree, new ideologies.

Its gonna be a lot of hard work.

Good luck!

How many nations do you include, for you will get some sort of problem then, because there is a limited amount of TAG's available

One tag can represent several nations through the new flag change events and the ability to change the name of a country-mid game. England and Scotland for example can both re-named into "Great Britain" and given the right flag should it be nessecary and Austria can transform into "Germany" or "Austria-Hungary" or whatever.

To take as much advantage of this new feature as possible I'd suggest to give the tags standardized names and use the have the more specific thingies beeing done throuh the name change and flag change events.

The greatest problem however is to think of how to represent leaders and "ministers". Neither can be created spontaneously mid game via events thus a more abstract system would have to be developed. Dealing with teach teams is similar but a bit easier since you don't nessecarily need to have many techteams. Especialy if you properly reduce the number of techs. Five seperate teams per tag would probably enough as to research political, land, naval, infra and trade techs.

Yeah you could implement the sliders for investment in land, naval etc, via the techtree and the different national ideas could be made available or not via decision. I would also suggest a battlescenario first, good luck again :)

Tim

IMO the HoS should represent the Form of government while the minister should represent national ideas and such. Sliders should be used as they are in EUIII as "centralization vs decentralization" or "aristocracy vs plutocracy" as there is no way to invest "money" or resources of any sorts into research exept by using the tech teams. In fact I can think of no other way at all to gain technologys (as opposed to blueprints) other than researching them.

Hah there you got a good use for the HoG: HoG can represent the religion. I have no idead about how Asamy could handle colonialization though.
