'Unknown String Wanted'

I recently came across a problem with my HOI: DD Arma game when i edited the names of model classes in the editor. I gave ship class names to German, British, French and Italian ships that lacked a name and now half my tech tree states 'unknown string wanted' under tech name and my espionage is basically useless as everything to do with spying states unknown thread wanted. the only mod i have is the SKIF graphic mod which worked fine until i deited these names. any suggestions on how to fix it?

which files did you modify and did you made a backup of your files???

I only edited the model names using the editor and i didnt think to make a backup as i had edited some tech teams with no problem. It seems to be a problem with 'doomsdaytext' and i've tried to completly uninstall the program but it simply keeps the files somewhere i can't find them, i've even deleted the registry information with no change.

There is the problem.... the editor..... never use it....

Best solution at this point is to run a repair on your game....

Thanks for that, but how do i repair a program on vista as the only option available is uninstall. I know that on XP it would give an option saying repair but i cant seem to get it with vista.

A reinstall might be better on Vista..... make sure that you backup your saved games first.

Also a recommendation....

Once the game is installed.... copy the entire Paradox folder to another location.... you can always copy over the install directory with this one should this situation arise again.
