I haven't seen a thread regarding the save game issue I'm having. I started a two-player game and saved it about three hours after starting. When we went to load it the joining player would see a message saying "No scenario selected by host" and in the player list box would simply see jargon next to his name where his country should be. This would happen to the client regardless of who hosted. The host's screen would always look normal.

Do one of us need to reinstall? I'm not sure what the problem might be...it's a version1.03 game - which we verified both of us are at.

We've seen this issue in a four player game. One player (running WinXP) was unable to load just as you describe. He uninstalled and reinstalled HoI (and patched back up) and presto it worked.

We've also come to the conclusion that it does seem to work smoother if you email the save game file to everyone so they don't need to get it downloaded when they connect. The only problem with this is that for the first connect each player seems to get the name of the host. (a bit confusing for chat until you actually go into the game).

Thanks for that. I tried re-installing but had the same result. How about can the both of us reinstall and patch up to 1.03b and still use that save?

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

I think you get the name of the host (and also his message settings) because of the .cfg file. If you use only the .eug file then this should not come up.
