Think I covered just about everything now,
but there's always room for improvement ofcourse so please let me know where I goofed up.

Also, I'd love to include short descriptions for all countries in EU, like the one already there for the Netherlands. If you can help me out, please do.

Very good FAQ, Oranje! Guess it covers everything... until now! :D

Keep up the good work!

Hi Oranje

Great work on the FAQ, but I'm everything but crazy about the way it is implemented though.

Visitors have to click through several subcategories before they reach the answer to their question, and since your page seems to be located on a very slow server it takes ages.

May I suggest putting the entire FAQ on a single page, place the questions at the top of the page, and jump to the relevant paragraph with the jump tag?

It is a userfriendly way of doing a FAQ, it is more or less standard, and it allows users to download the FAQ.

Regards,

Uhm... nice province. I
think I'll take it.

And write something about editing SAVEGAMES to remove major status :) Although I am the only one having problem with this. But the faq talks about the scenario files, adn deleting countries in the savegame file down´t make them annexable, just unchosable, and changing the major=yes to major=no gives the silver shield but I had all stars and still couldn´t chose annex on spain...

Depp. You are not alone in this.
I have yet to hear of a way to do this without the savegame:
1. crashing on startup
2. still count the countries as major.

Hello,
Don't really know how to,
but the method to find out seems to be:
start a game with the major status removed for one country, then save and compare the savegame to one without the change?

greetings, Oranje

But make sure to compare it to a game using the same scenario, same human controlled country and approximately same time of save (best would be just after start). Else there will be too many irrelevant differences between those two saves.

About the setup for the faq:
Yes I realize that if you want to read all of it it takes more time this way.
I would think however that most people accessing it look for an answer to just a few questions.
In that case the setup seems adequate enough?

The method suggested to put all of it in one page may sound more attractive, but it would be one hell of a long page to load then :(

greetings Oranje

Btw. Don´t ever remove a country from the incfile or a savegame.

Instead set major=no and also have a look at this line:

set_conq_capital = 1

It should be set to this value (if I remember correctly), if You want to be able to annex.

Wow, what a database of knowledge, Oranje!

However, I, too, would favor a one-site solution. That would have the great advantage that you could save it to hd and view it offline if you want to re-check something or want to look up something you haven't thought of before.

But after all, it's your site and you can make it any way you prefer. I'll continue visiting it often!

Thanks hartman, I will try this when I get the urge to exterminate the spanish again, or probably try it on something simpler, like the polish. Their empire is always a house of cards :)

that´s just the option if annexion is possible at all. It´s changable in the preferences meny, but that is already 1.

so no luck yet...

However, I, too, would favor a one-site solution.

There is already one of those available, just take a look at my pages. Though currently it's missing in some parts since I'm away from home and havn't had time to update it.

Depp

To edit a savegame to be 100% correct do as someone suggested and
1) start a new GC game and save imediately.
2) edit the GC .eug and save it under a different name.
3) start a new game with your edited GC (preferably with the same country as in #1) and save imediately.
4) open up the two savefiles and look closely at the differences between the two.

My guess is that you will have to change the following things:

set_conq_capital=1
set_mayor=0 (belive this is only cosmetic, giving silver shields, better safe then sorry though)
links refering to which .eug is used.

but there might be more...

Well Stephan, I think we'd best leave it as it is then, your faq having a one page format, and mine a little different.
This way everybody can have what he likes best.

Btw, you don't really believe you can convince people to trade in their browser for another just for the sake of having a better view of your faq, do you? :D
