Hi there.

I am attempting to move the user directory for ck2, so that my save games and mods aren't sitting in my documents folder, but in another specified location. I am running on a mac, and my documents folder syncs with icloud for work, but I clearly don't need mods and save games for ck2 doing this. I am trying to do this via the advice offered elsewhere on this forum:

I have created a userdir.txt file, and placed it alongside the ck2 executable, in the correct place, containing a single correct file location where I'd like the user directory to be located. As far as I'm aware, the location of the file is correct, in the steam folders next to ck2.exe, and the specified location is written correctly.

Issue is that this doesn't appear to work! Launching the game simply creates another Paradox/ck2 folder in my documents.

Is there a different method for relocating user directories on Mac, or am I missing a step here? Thanks!

I can't say I've even tried this, to be honest.

How exactly have you expressed the intended file path?

the location of the file is correct, in the steam folders next to ck2.exe
There should be no ck2.exe on the Mac ... ?

The intended file path is expressed as

/Users/[ME]/Local Docs/CK2 Data

I've tried a few variations. The reason I believe this to be accurate is that it's taken from the folder information, and when used as a path for the 'go to folder' tool, it takes me to the correct place.

Hah, yes, sorry. Used to Windows. The Userdir.txt file is placed inside Steam/Steamapps/common/Crusader Kings II. Which would be next to ck2.app, on Mac, I suppose.

I tested this and got the same outcome. There is an old bug report on it for Linux, so I've updated that with this info.

Unfortunately I suspect this will not be changed at this late stage in the game's life! However I'll update here is anything happens.

Sorry about that!
