That’s right!

You read that correctly.

In conjunction with the upcoming 6th anniversary of Harebrained Schemes and Paradox releasing BATTLETECH into the Wild, we will be running the 3rd iteration of our Valhalla tournament.

A tournament that saw 91 fellow BATTLETECH Multiplayer gamers enjoy all the best Big and Stompy that BATTLETECH has to offer.

Congratulations to @williamvonbillhelm and @Kidzin for their efforts to gain the tournament finals!

Tournament registration is up on Challonge, the same site we’ve used previously: https://challonge.com/lk1aw7d2

More information will be forthcoming…

Until then, good luck and Great BATTLETECH gaming!

Have a great day, and ever better tomorrows.

Twitter calling message inbound…

Just five days until the tournament begins. Eck, one of our very own HBS developers has joined us for this tournament. This further ensures that 2024 Valhalla will be a tournament to remember!

Greetings one and all!

Our Valhalla tournament begins tomorrow. Below is a copy of the Tournament Information listed on Challonge. Updates are highlighted by bold text.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

This tournament is a double elimination tournament.

The Map for this tournament will be Central Mountain.

Mech selection will be by “Mech Draft,” which is explained toward the end of this message.

A 90-second timer will be used for each match.

While all BATTLETECH DLCs are in-play, no Mods will be used.

Players will have a week’s time to complete their matches.

The BattleTech Scrimmage Club Discord Server (https://discord.gg/dJZfjmwdzT), the tournament Challonge site (https://challonge.com/lk1aw7d2) and this Paradox’ BATTLETECH Forum thread (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/valhalla-a-tournament-of-champions.1623315/) will be used to coordinate the tournament. Each provides an essential element of coordination, control and record keeping.

The BattleTech Scrimmage Club Discord Server includes a dice roll function (/roll). A roll of these dice will determine who will host a given Match. In this way the choice of Host is left up to fate. This means that some will likely never host a single match, while others may continuously host matches. Fate / a roll of discord’s dice will decide. The discord server will also serve to facilitate real time coordination between players.

This Challonge site will be where players record the results of each match. The onus is on the players to the players to successfully complete their matches within a week’s time. The onus is also on the players to resolve all match disputes. If agreement and resolution is not possible, I retain final authority and once hearing both sides will resolve the issue in the fairest manner possible.

The BATTLETECH Forum will be where I publish weekly tournament updates

We will be using “Mech Drafts” for all Mech Selection / Lance Creation during the Tournament. With Mech Draft, the Match’s Host selects a Mech, then the other player selects a Mech, the Host selects the Third Mech and the other player selects the fourth and final Mech. These four Mechs will form the Lance that each player will use for that match. Players are then free to select their own MechWarriors for their Lance. A new Mech Draft is completed for each match of the tournament. In this way it is quite possible a participant will never use the same Lance twice.

While all three DLC’s are permissible, they are not required. If one player does not have one or more DLC, both players should avoid selecting those Mechs that were only added in the missing DLC(s.) In this way we ensure a level playing field regardless of who has paid for which DLC.

And lastly, connectivity and the ability to complete some matches can be a challenge… at times a frustrating challenge. If matches have been dropped, a remedial action is to restart the game client by both gamers. In the past, this has routinely been a remedial action that has worked in many instances.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please let me know as soon as possible.

And as ever, good luck and good BATTLETECH gaming!

Our double-elimination Valhalla tournament has begun! : )

On Challonge, we can submit “Bracket Predictions“ (just like March Madness Bracket Predictions) for another 5-hours, until 8pm EDT tonight.

Matches can be held immediately, results will not be able to be uploaded until after 8pm tonight, when I close-out the Prediction phase and move us into the Tournament phase.

All questions, comments and criticisms are welcome.

Have a great day, and ever better tomorrows.

One hour remains to get your Valhalla tournament prediction into Challonge..

Results can now be reported to Challonge.

Please remember, each tier of this tournament has a week to complete. You can not push into the next tier of the tournament until noon, next Wednesday. Thus this tournament will take, at a minimum 4-weeks to complete, possibly 5-weeks with double elimination of the Zero-loss Bracket being necessary.

Good luck and good gaming!

With today being 01MAY, we are moving into the second week of our tournament.

Please go ahead, schedule and hold the next round of matches.

Any comments or questions, please let me know. Have a great day, and ever better tomorrows
