Vassal Questions. New questions, I swear!

I haven't seen either of these covered in the FAQs anywhere, so here goes:

1) If I force/diplo-annex a country, what happens to their vassals? Do they become free, or are they now my vassals? I have the Mamelukes on the ropes, y'see, and the Hejaz are their vassals....

2) If I make a country my vassal, what happens to any alliances they are in? Are they forced out of the alliance, or do they stay in? I have my eye on the Crimea, y'see, and they're in an alliance with Russia....

1. Their vassal become free
2. If you want to bring a country as a vassal, it HAS to be in YOUR alliance, so your question doesn't apply. This being said, once they are your vassal, they can belong to another alliance.

Are you sure? Oranje's FAQ doesn't list being in the same alliance as being a pre-requisite for vassalization...royal marriage, good relations, but not alliance....

Well, it's very necessary. Be the leader of the alliance too.

The same goes for diplo annexation even though that'sless documented.
