Vassals of vassals, how does it work then?

By dint of diplomacy and bribery, I have as Spain just made vassals of Lorraine and The Palatinat. Now the manual states that if I get involved in a bit of a ruck ,they have to aid me. But Lorraine has vassalised Wurtemburg and The Palatinat likewise with Saxony. So my vassals will aid me but are their vassals also obliged to get involved in the case of war? that is do they owe me any loyalty in their own right? I realise the end result is likely to be the same eg: if France attacks me, then my vassals will have to aid me, THEIR vassals will be obliged to aid THEM and so we will all end up fighting France, or am i misjudging the situation?

Vassals don't help u when ur atacked unless they're in the same alliance.

Vassals of my vassals are not my vassals
Actually, sometimes they accept vassalization and don't want to join alliance anymore. Happened to me quite a lot. My poor little vassals with no allies and other nations looking them up as easy targets And i can't do nothing to help them... oh, well declare war on that little bastard who attacked them.
