I am finally annoyed enough to post this! It has been happening fairly regularly and finally decided to ask the forum! I am playing Vanilla HoI, version 1.06c. My operating system is Windows XP, I have updated everything through MSN that can be updated, and my drivers are current.
The problem I am experiencing is when I exit the game. I click on Surrender then on Quit. That gives me the: You have Quit the game screen.
Usually looks something like this:

Axis:
Allies:
Comintern:
Exit

Except when it is about to crash it is identical except ‘Exit does not appear as it normally does above?

Axis:
Allies:
Comintern:

The screen goes all black; put the music is still playing. I hit Ctrl – Alt – Delete to bring up Windows Task Manager. It says: “Hearts of Iron Not Responding”… Is anyone else experiencing this? Have I none something to my game? I am using no mods and have not loaded Core. Sometimes I cannot even turn my computer off; I have to use the re-boot button.
As always thank you in advance for your help!

Keep on gaming!
John

:D

Strange. Try to uninstall the game completely and install again.

That happened to me once, but after I reinstall the game the problem seemed to go away. Try that BatNdmh and see if it works

Would this matter?

I am playing all of the major powers as well. I have all major powers set for no troop limits and each momth I go in and make sure everyone is maxed out with coal, steel rubber, etc ...

Thanks

John

If I un-install can I save the folder with my save dgames in it? Or do I need to delete them as well?

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock

These wil fix this problem 90% of the time.
