Myself and my mate tried to play a mp game of HoI 2 tonite.
He is English
I am Irish.
We both bought HoI2 last week.
We both updated the patch from the main site.
But yet we both have different versions of 1.1

He has 1.1 EUWK and I have 1.1 IOCO (or I think something like that)

Any way this can be solved... or why we have different versions.

Thanks

Check with the MP forum.

Okay thanks for moving this post.
Although I was considering to post it here, I feel its more of a technical issue, since it doesnt have to be to do with multiplayer for it to be a problem.
Anyway that doesnt really matter.
I have looked throughout this forum and I see nothing to do with this problem...
Any suggestions?

He has not upgraded version if i remember properly, you have the correct one 1.1 IOCO. Perhaps he started to exctract files from 1.1 patch and then stopped because of some issues, second possiblity is that perhaps he changed some files. I think that the best way is that he will install patch again or, if it won't help that he will reinstall whole game.

Yeah, your version is right. His is wrong. Either his patch job didn't go right, or he changed some files, man. And if he changed some files, you ought to be asking yourself and him why.

Danke,
I have put him to shame, and so he is re-installing.
He has openly admitted from the start that he has been cheating, but I have convinced him he cant and wont be doing it when playing against me

is there a list somewhere of the different version types?

so does anyone have a list of all the different version types? are they generated at random?

i went through this problem with a friend of mine a few months ago. we both installed the game and the patch, but i had a flag mod from HOI1 installed on my machine. his game version was 1.1 IOCO and mine was 1.1 CBHY and we weren't able to play.

what exactly changes a game version? if i go into a savefile and change the spelling of an infantry division somewhere is the version code going to change?

i'm not complaining about this policy - i actually like it a lot - but i just don't know much about it. there doesn't seem to be a lot of easily accessible information regarding this issue. maybe i'm just looking in the wrong place.

thanks

The versions are designed to stop cheating and, in this case, seem to have worked. The process is being tightened up in 1.2 so that other instances of cheating are caught too. I don't want to go into details as this may be useful to cheats. Note that being caught cheating, as in this case, is serious character stain and is not worth risking a friendship for.
